01.

Athena.

The wave blew gently all around me as I stared at the sky, bleak of all the brightness of the sun. My hands over the window still where I stood were cold from all the air hitting them, but I barely noticed.

All my focus was on the view in front of me - a large land filled with nothing but trees and greenness of nature. At the side of this land were houses clearly meant for the Omegas of the pack to rest their heads after a long day of work. And to the far end was the ocean. Instead of the usual way the sea would rage and make noises, it was calm at the moment. I couldn’t tell if it was because it rained during the night or because of the gloomy weather that morning.

As far as the sea was, it called to me, beckoning me to take a ride in it. A ride I knew I would not return from if I attempted it. But then again, that was the purpose of why I stood at the window of a two story building, the curtains sprayed to a side and my hands on the still.

I wanted to jump to my fall.

As I was still contemplating which one of the two would be a quick way to die - the fall or the sea, the smell of potatoes waffled in my nostrils, making me gag for about five minutes before I could regain myself once more.

Without meaning to, my hands moved away from where they rested and settled on my stomach where the new life was now growing.

A lone tear slid down my left cheek and I swiped at it angrily. Now was not the time to die. Now was the time to look for a solution before the pregnancy would start showing and the entire pack would know what it was that I had done.

It wouldn’t have mattered if they knew if my plan had worked out, but the man I was pregnant for has refused to have anything to do with either myself or the baby.

“Athena!”

I gasped as I heard someone shouted my name at the same time they tapped me. I almost flew forward - straight out of the window, but the hand steadied me and dragged me backward.

“What are you doing here and why are the windows all opened?” Claire, a woman who was old enough to be my mother, asked even as she was already closing the window blinds and curtains. Once she was done, she held my hand and moved me to the small bed where I slept on.

“At your condition, don’t you know that you need to stay way from the cold?” She inquired, looking intently at my stomach. “What would have happened if your hand had slipped from the sides of the window and you fall and…?” Her words trailed off as understanding dawned on her.

“Athena!” She screamed at the very top of her voice, her eyes bulged out like she almost couldn’t believe that I would have even had the thought to end my own life.

“Oh, honey, getting pregnant for the Alpha and him rejecting you and his heir is just not the end of the world.” She said in a kind way, holding my arm and rubbing it affectionately.

The tears I had been doing my very best to hold slipped and I began to cry.

“Alpha Gian said… he said… he doesn’t want…” I tried to speak but the tears I was crying kept interrupting my speech.

“I know he said he doesn’t want the baby, but that doesn’t mean you should end your life because of that. If you don’t want to think for yourself, Athena, think about the poor baby,” Claire said to me, still cuddling me.

“I don’t want to raise the baby alone!” I screamed out at Claire. “If he knew that he didn’t want me, why did he approach me that night after finding out that we were mates? Why did he sleep with me? Why did he mark me?” As I asked the last part, my hand went to my neck where the mating mark of the Alpha nestled peacefully. It burned a little, reminding me that I now belonged to the man whether I wanted it or not.

Until we both rejected each other, I was going to be stuck with the mark, thereby making me smell to other werewolves around who might be interested in picking me as their second option mate.

But then again, who would pick an Omega wolf for a mate when they had better options?

Claire tapped me by the side suddenly, making me look at her. She stared at me intently, making the hair on my body stand. Even before she voiced out her thought, I knew her next words would not sit well with me.

“You know, I’ve been thinking about this for a while. You know… since you told me about everything going on.”

I nodded to her words.

When I first found out that I was pregnant and the Alpha had told me to make sure I and the baby disappear from the pack as he wanted nothing to do with us, Claire was the only person I found myself crying to. How could I not, when she has always been treating me like her daughter?

“There is this drug,” Claire said and paused to give me a meaningful look before she continued. “It renders whoever you use it on useless and at your command.” She finished.

I gasped as I took in what she said.

“You want me to use it on the Alpha?” I asked, covering my mouth, scared that anyone might hear and the words would reach the Alpha. If caught trying to endanger the Alpha, the punishment for that was death.

“It won’t kill him,” Claire said, rolling her eyes at me. “It would just make him senseless for a while. Then you can control him and ask him to complete the Luna rite on you. That way, the future of yourself and that of your child will be secured.” She finished in a whisper.

Even though I shouldn’t consider it, my mind picked up pace as I began to see the possibilities of being the Luna of Dark Moon Pack. Not only will my life be better, but that of my offspring would be secured.

“If you don’t want to do it for yourself, at least think of the little pup you are carrying.” The woman beside me said.

My hands rested in my stomach as I gave her a nod.

I would do it. For myself, and for my unborn child.

“How do I get this drug?” I asked Claire.

Her face lifted up as she reached into the bag beside her. Once she brought the hand out, it came with a nylon tied with something that was snot visible.

“This is a wolfsbane.” She explained.

“But wolfsbane kills,” I protested immediately.

“Not this one.” She corrected in a whisper. “This one just makes you so powerless that you have to be at the back and call of anyone who used it on you.”

“Are you sure?” I asked her in a whisper. She nodded her head and placed a hand on her chest, telling me not to panic.

She drew even closer to me and began to direct me on how to use the wolfsbane she just gave me. Once she was done, she stood up and stared at me intently.

“You know what to do.” She said in a hushed voice. After that, she walked away, leaving me to my thoughts.

But the question was, would I do it?
