Two years later.
Athena.
“Athena!”
I turned around the moment I heard the sweet melodious voice that called me.
“Beauty!” I yelled right back, my eyes beaming with a smile that I knew was reserved for only her. I dropped the sword I was using for training and rushed out of the ring to go and meet her.
“Is Light crying?” I asked her. She immediately shook her head in the negative.
Light!
The name I decided to give to my daughter after I gave birth. She was so attached to me that she hardly let me out of her sight. Beauty helped with taking care of her and her brother, Liam, so I was able to do other things with my life.
Training was one of them. I wanted to know how to be able to fight in order to be able to protect my children against any danger that might come. I didn’t want them to suffer any injustice or be subjected to maltreatment just because I was an Omega and I didn’t learn to fight for defense as well.
The second was me deciding that I was going to learn to be a pack’s doctor. I would usually go for my training in the later morning after I was done training with the Beta who volunteered to train me after I brought up the discussion.
“So… how is Beta Theodore treating you during the training session?” Beauty asked.
“Very well. In fact, I think he goes easy on me so much,” I told her with a smile. I could remember how he asked me during the first day why I wanted to learn to fight when he could simply protect my children and I. I brushed his words off with a smile, but I knew that deep down, I needed to learn to fight just in case Alpha Gian later knew that I survived. Worse… that I later had him the children from the pregnancy he wanted me to get rid of. I also chose to learn about being a doctor just in case of a fight and I got injured. I wanted to be able to care for myself and my children.
I had to be prepared for everything.
“That’s because he’s interested in you,” Beauty said with a smile, bumping me with her shoulder as her eyes flung to the man who was still in the training ring but now focused on us.
Or more correctly… me.
I gulped slightly before I plastered a smile on my face again.
“Stop with your nonsense already. He’s a Beta. There is no way he wants an Omega like me,” I told my best friend.
“Whatever you say!” She snorted. “Anyways…” she began, her expression very serious. “The Alpha wants to see the both of us.” She told me.
The Alpha…
My heart raced for almost ten seconds before I could control myself again. Every time I heard that word, I always had the feeling that my secret was out and it was time to be punished and casted out.
“Don’t worry, he is not about to throw you into prison…” Beauty said with a mocking smile, knowing how much fear I always had at the mention of the Alpha. “Let’s go!” She said, already dragging me in the direction of the pack mansion where the Alpha resided.
The walk to the mansion was a brisk one because we were half running to the place. The moment we got in, we went straight to the office where the Alpha was seated and waiting for us.
I noticed how he had a file in his hands. One that he was trying his best not to crush to death. I could tell that he was angry and that made me shiver. The file could be someone ripping him off about everything I had done in my former pack and why I was left for death.
“What is it, brother?” Beauty asked, already sitting in front of the man.
Without a word, the man pushed the paper in his hand to his sister. I stood at the entrance intensed anticipation, waiting to know what was going on. Once Beauty was done reading the file, she looked at me with a face that was struck with shock. I gulped loudly and shifted back a bit. The woman shook her head and turned back to look at her brother.
“What is the meaning of this?!” She stormed.
In all the two years since I’ve known Beauty, I had never heard her raise her voice before. Today was the first. Again, she turned to look at me, her face still radiating with anger and shock.
“I… I…” I stormed out, ready to explain but the words refused to come.
“Athena, can you believe this pack people?” She asked me.
“Athena, come here and sit down!” Alpha Gray instructed me. “Stop acting like an outsider.”
I relaxed a bit when I heard that from him. If the file was about me, then I shouldn’t be getting that invitation. I left where I stood frozen and went to the other vacant chair beside Beauty. Once I was seated, the woman passed the file to me.
Once I was done reading, I hissed out loud in anger. Now, I knew what was raging enough to get both brother and sister so upset.
How dare those people?!
“What are we going to do now?” I asked the moment I was done hissing.
“I would have gone there to reason with the Alpha about what he has intention on but I have that traveling down to north to talk about some allegiance with the Alpha and I can’t put it off. So, I need you and Beauty to go there and talk some sense into this man. Even if it won’t help much, it will help to stall him for a while, so I can get my business in the north done and return to here to take care of this matter.” The Alpha explained.
“That makes sense,” Beauty chipped in, accepting the offer. “Right, Athena?” She asked, turning to look at me.
I opened my mouth to say something but no words came out. I was frozen and every fiber of my being was in shock and fear.
“Athena, I need you to go with Beauty so you can help me look out for her. We both know how she can easily rile up people and I don’t want her to do that in the enemy’s camp, so you can caution her if you are with her. I would have sent Beta Theodore but he’s going with me to the North. Beauty is the Gamma of the pack so this responsibility falls on her.” The Alpha explained, his voice pleading with me to understand.
Beauty rolled her eyes to that but I ignored it.
“But my children…” I finally managed to let out, hoping to use them as an excuse.
“They will be well taken care of. You will only be gone for a day or two at most.” The man assured me.
“Can’t you send entourages instead? Elders?” I asked again.
“The Gamma ranks higher in position than all those you mentioned. Not to mention that Beauty is of Royal blood and that will make this Alpha tread with caution around her.” The Alpha explained again.
“But…” I began.
“It is a command, Athena. You and Beauty are going to the Dark Moon Pack!” The Alpha said in his authoritative tone.
Oh, no!
