Athena

The night had swallowed the forest whole, and every shadow seemed alive, moving with a will of its own. My breath came in shallow, panicked gasps as I ran, clutching Light and Liam to my chest. The twins, still half-asleep, stirred at my frantic movements but did not cry. Somehow, they seemed to sense my urgency, their small bodies pressing against me as though we shared one heartbeat.
