The first rays of dawn barely pierced the canopy when we returned to Grayhound territory, the supply depot in ruins and Gian’s forces thrown into disarray. The forest smelled of smoke and burnt wood, and the distant cries of retreating enemies echoed in the morning air. Even from afar, I could feel the tension radiating through the pack. Victory was ours—for now—but the danger was far from over.
