The tremble in Sara’s hand as she reached for the ringing phone told me two things:

She was really scared of Carlos Alvarez.

And she wasn't afraid of what I could do.

“What do you want to tell him?” I asked, before she picked the call.

She stared at me with eyes wide with panic. “I told you this was a bad idea.”.
