“Why did you stop?” Tobias’s voice interrogated, his breath fanning my neck as his front pressed to my back due to my abrupt halt.

For a moment I got distracted but cursed myself for letting that happen at such a critical time. My mother’s hospital room was empty with the bed properly made as if no one had slept on it the previous night.
