The rogue was taken by surprise as it stumbled and slowly got to its feet, taking time to observe its new opponent. My heart pounded as I gazed into its red eyes.

‘Be strong Ria,’ I said in encouragement to my wolf who despite our heartbeat, stood firm and unshaken on the outside.

I could feel eyes on me as the noise in the background happened to tone down a bit. My fur shone under the moonlight, automatically calling the attention of everyone in the vicinity.
