Lu woke up and felt a little bit dizzy, she saw two maids standing in front of her, one with a large bowl of water and the other one with a white towel, her eyes finally became clearer and she remembered bits by bits of what happened yesterday, her head ached as she tried to remember so she just decided to forget about it.

They held her feet and put them in the bowl and the water was very warm, their hands felt ticklish as they began washing her feet “don’t worry, I’ll do it by myself” Lu said and they laughed “no, its our job, our lives relies on this, one mistake and we’re done for”.

Lu tried to open the door and it did open, she then laughed and closed it back “and yet they said their lives depend on this and they can’t even lock the door properly” she said and locked the door “but they’ll still notice because I locked it from the inside” she said as she unlocked it back.

“This can be a chance for me to run away and what if I do and get caught, the security only gets tighter...what-” Lu was saying when she looked up and saw that the security cameras weren’t there anymore and she looked at the whole ceiling “am I dreaming?” Lu said and opened the door, she saw some guards at the elevator entrance and some were near the windows.

She walked towards the elevator and they didn’t even bat an eye at her, she pressed the elevator button and excitement was in her blood, she entered the elevator as soon as it opened and immediately pressed the ground floor button.

“Going somewhere?” xian who was literally at her back said and she shouted in shock “what?, why are you shouting like you just got caught doing something bad?” xian said and laughed.

“Do you think this is funny?” Lu said and turned to him “of course it is, try putting yourself in my shoes” xian said and laughed again “where are you going to looking so ragged up?” he said as he brought out a cigarette pack from his pocket and put one in his mouth.

“ragged up?” Lu said “stop picking fights, it’s too early to do that with you” she said as the elevator opened and she stepped out “if things gets out of hands use my name as an excuse” xian shouted as she walked away.

Lu came out from the taxi and couldn’t figure out how to pay for the ride and the driver kept pressuring her for it. She finally saw her dad’s secretary crossing the street with a cup of coffee and Lu shouted her name and waved at her.

Before they got into an elevator, the lady gave lu a pair of sunglasses to wear because of security reasons.

“The chairman’s not here yet but you can have a seat and wait for him, he’ll come soon” the lady said and Lu nodded her head.

Lu waited and waited until she got bored, she took a look around his office and she saw his storage room and entered inside and as soon as she did, her dad entered the office and he was on a call “-yes, Lu’s gallery is already on auction, she doesn’t need it anymore because she got married yesterday” her dad said as he kept his phone on his desk and put the call on loud speaker “we can get the job done quickly now, Mr. president would love it” the voice in the call said, the voice sounded very familiar to Lu, she’s heard it somewhere but can’t remember.

Lu came out from his storage room when he was done making the call, he was very surprised, she was so heartbroken because of what she heard, her entire life was a lie, he was the only one that she believed in and now he betrayed her.

“Wh-what are you doing here?” her dad asked and Lu scoffed “I don’t know too, what am I doing here?” Lu said and was approaching the door to leave and he didn’t even make any little effort to stop her, tears were about falling from her eyes when she turned back to him and held it in, she didn’t want to look miserable in front of him.

“Let me ask you one question” Lu said “did you ever love me?, answer me honestly” Lu said as she swallowed to the urge to sob.

“I didn’t, neither did your mum, you were just part of the plan” he said and looked down “Lu, this life Is all about give and take, you’re not helping our family, and do you know what rich people do to useless products?, they discard them, in that way we can even move further in their achievement, and also, I didn’t throw you away, I used you for something useful, I’m not that much of a bad person, I’m just using you to help us” he said and laughed.

“Am I not part of the family?!” Lu shouted and he laughed “will I do something this bad to my own blood?, I’m not that wicked, we just brought you in because my wife was craving for a girl child and this is how you end up, its not completely your fault though, your real mother was a mentally ill person too-” he was saying when she immediately left the office and ran towards the elevator.

Ziaoting was walking inside the building entrance when he saw Lu running towards him and he held her arm “Lu! What’s-” he was saying when she pushed his hand away and ran into the road, cars where honking and Lu suddenly felt dizzy, the cars were driving past her and she didn’t know where she would go, she heard a loud horn and it was from a truck, Lu looked straight at it and closed her eyes ‘its okay now, lets just die’ Lu thought and the truck ran into her.
