The next morning, Gray woke to find Giovanni already sitting up beside him, staring blankly out the window. Her expression was distant—haunted almost. He pushed himself up, concern flickering across his face.

“Babe, what’s wrong? When did you wake up?” he asked softly, voice still rough with sleep.

Giovanni turned to him with a faint, humorless smirk. “I’m fine,” she said, though her tone betrayed her. “It’s just… the false news going around online.”
