Ezra embraced her tightly, her body slumping against him. She drew ragged breaths, her skin freezing to the touch. The square around them was completely still, as if the wind had forgotten how to breathe. Wolves gazed in a stunned ring, too terrified to cheer, too terrified to move.

He stroked her face. "Anabelle?"

She opened her eyes—but they weren't hers.

The red light flared again.

And then she smiled.
