Alley

The alley felt narrower than before.

Roman leaned against the cold brick wall, his hood pulled low, eyes constantly scanning the narrow entrance. Every nerve in him was alert, ears tuned to every sound.

The afternoon sun was barely reaching them here. Beside him, Angelo couldn’t stay still. He paced from one end of the alley to the other, his boots scraping softly against the concrete, and his hands clenching and unclenching like he was holding back an outburst.
