“What happened again?”

Warmth pressed against my skin, soft and suffocating all at once. My eyelids fluttered open to a blur of gold and shadow, the faint scent of pine smoke and leather clinging to the air.

Suddenly I remembered, and my brows furrowed into an ugly frown.

“Oh, for the Moon’s sake, I fainted again.” I mumbled to myself in disbelief.

I groaned, dragging an arm over my face as if I could block out the shame.
