ARIA POINT OF VIEW

The message came just before night fully settled over Shadowfang.

A guard knocked softly on my door and handed me a scroll. I could tell from his face that it wasn’t routine.

I thanked him and closed the door, breaking the seal slowly.

The handwriting was neat.

I opened it and saw that it was from Lyra.

She asked that we meet at the outskirts of Shadowfang, not in moonfang but somewhere quiet. She said she wanted to talk privately.

I read it twice.
