The moment my feet touched the ground outside the pack, I knew resting was no longer an option.

Pain shot up my leg with every step, sharp and ugly, but I ignored it. Cairn walked close beside me, his eyes never leaving my face, ready to catch me if I faltered. A few soldiers followed, quiet, alert, weapons in hand.
