Isabel’s eyes fluttered open. Her head felt heavy, her mouth dry. She blinked until the ceiling above came into focus. When she turned her head, the first thing she saw was Lena sitting beside her, pressing a cool towel across her forehead.

Her body stiffened. “Lena?” Her voice cracked. “We are home?” She pushed against the blanket as if she could sit up. “How did I even get back here?”

“You should not move,” Lena said quietly, keeping the towel pressed down.
