Thorn
I paced about, waiting patiently for him to arrive.
“Why the heck is he taking so long?” I asked angrily.
He was wasting time, and I couldn’t stand it. I hated to wait up for anyone. Usually, he should be the one waiting up for me.
“Why can’t some people just stick to the damn time?” I asked no one in particular.
I was waiting at a private lounge, and I expected that he would have been here by now. I was already used to everything going my way, and so, for the first time, things seemed to be going south, and I just couldn’t stand by and do nothing.
My phone rang just then, stalling my thoughts.
When I brought it out from my pocket and saw that it was Aria, my mood soured instantly.
“What is it?” I asked, snapping into the phone.
“Why are you speaking to me like this?” She asked me emotionally.
And this was one of the reasons she was always overbearing to me, and I couldn’t stand it. I had thought that Seraphina was emotional until I met her younger, and sometimes, a man didn’t want anything like that.
“You already know that I am tense right now, Aria,” I told her, lowering the depth of my voice. “This isn’t the right time to be calling,” I told her.
“So, when is?” I asked.
“I don’t know, Aria,” I said, wanting to end the call.
“I am worried about you, Thorn,” she said deeply.
“Do you have the money now to give me?” I asked her.
“You know that I can’t get that kind of money right now,” she said, just as I had expected.
And it made me even more infuriated.
“Seraphina has been the one taking care of my needs and doing everything for me, so, you don’t expect me to have that kind of amount of money,” Aria complained further.
I ground my teeth in annoyance and irritation.
Indeed, she was only good and useful for sex.
“At least, if this was Seraphina, she would have looked for a way for me,” I blurted without considering her feelings.
Yes, I wanted her to know how useless and worthless she was to me.
If this was Seraphina, she would have gone over and beyond for me, and that was one of the things that I really missed about her. Since I started dating Seraphina, I didn’t even need to tell her who my dad was, and when I even realized that she didn’t really care, I exploited her. For whatever I needed that my dad was hesitating to provide, all I needed to do was mention it to Seraphina.
And the man had the nerves to have sex with her!
The thought of that alone, and the fact that I literally heard Seraphina mention his name from those full lips of hers nearly made me pass out with fury.
“I am going to kill that bastard,” I swore under my breath, and I meant every word of it.
“That’s not a nice thing to say,” Aria was saying, bringing me out of my reverie.
“But it’s the truth, Aria,” I told her without flinching. “Isn’t Seraphina only a year older than you? Why then can’t you be like her, huh?” I questioned her.
Aria began to sniff, and I knew that she was already at the verge of tears. I groaned in annoyance. I really wasn’t cut out for any of this. If only the bastard I was waiting for would just show up so that I would have a good excuse to end the call.
“I will try my best,” Aria promised.
But what would I, Thorn Crowe, do with a bag of promises?
“Until then, Aria, but right now, I have to find a way,” I said and ended the call before she could say another word, which wouldn’t be more than how she missed me and how she wanted me.
I understood that every single woman I had been with were all unable to keep off. They always wanted me. Well, except Seraphina, and I had really thought that I was the one who would be the first to penetrate…
“I am sorry I am late,” he said as he slid into the private lounge.
His presence did nothing but to infuriate me and increase the anger that was already building inside of me.
“What do you so long?” I asked him.
“You know how hectic some days can be,” he said.
I sat down, facing him.
“I don’t care how some days are. The most important thing is that when I, Thorn Crowe, calls, you must answer,” I commanded him.
“Of course,” he said. “Again, I apologize,” he added.
“Let’s just get to why we are here,” I said.
“That would be great,” he agreed.
“Listen, I hate unfinished or tardy businesses,” I started to warn him. “This is very important for me, and I can’t afford to have it go wrong,” I continued.
“It cannot go wrong, Thorn, trust me,” he assured me.
“It had better not because I really need the money right now, and it has to be smooth and swift,” I told him. “Lucas is already breathing down my neck and I don’t want any more problems with him,” I added.
He was quiet for a few seconds.
“Do you have something you want to say?” I asked him impatiently.
“You are a Crowe, Thorn,” he started. “And your father is one of the wealthiest men in this city. This money is nothing to him,” he continued, but I didn’t let him go further.
“And?” I asked angrily and impatiently.
“I mean, you could easily get this money from him, Thorn. I am sure he wouldn’t hesitate to give you the money,” he explained.
I stared at him deeply, fighting the urge to throw him a punch.
“Maybe you should learn to mind your own business,” I warned him.
“My bad,” he apologized. “If this is how you want to go about it, I am all ready,” he swore.
“Good,” I said, highly pleased. “Now, let’s begin,” I added with a sinister smile.
