Putting A Name To It

Seraphina

Kaelan already stated that he would fix the situation and put a name to it, but I had to leave him when he got a business call and requested to be given some privacy.

He seemed really busy.

When I left his study, all the warmth and coziness disappeared, and I went back to the room which I was given.

I sat on the soft, big, and lush bed, wondering what I would do with my life now.

I couldn’t return to my apartment now, so does that mean that I wouldn’t go out, go to work, or live a normal life for the meantime? And how long would this last? What would I be here all day doing, especially as it seemed like Kaelan was always a busy man?

The last question almost made me laugh at myself.

Kaelan wasn’t my friend or a lover, so whether or not he was always occupied, I shouldn’t be having any companionship expectations from him.

A knock on the door prevented me from continuing with my thought.

“Who is it?” I asked, thinking that it was Kaelan.

And the thought of that alone sent shivers down my spine and settled in between my legs.

“It’s Celine,” she answered from behind the door, and my heart sank in disappointment.

And I realized that accepting Kaelan’s offer, as much as I didn’t have another choice, was a very bad idea. After that one night, I hadn’t been able to get him off my mind, and I could only imagine how worse it would be now that I knew that we were living together.

It would make everything more complicated.

“The door is open,” I said.

Celine walked into my bedroom.

“I am sorry to bother you again, but I wanted to know if you would like something to eat before lunch or dinner,” she offered.

It was so thoughtful of her even though I knew that she was merely doing her job. It wasn’t until she mentioned food that it dawned on me that I hadn’t eaten all day. My stomach even chose that exact moment to announce my hunger.

Celine looked at me and smiled when she heard my stomach rumbling, and with that, I didn’t feel embarrassed by it.

“I guess that my question came at the right time, isn’t it?” She asked me.

“It did,” I said.

I couldn’t even deny it because there was no point to it, and I needed food. I might still be worried and scared with a head filled with tons of questions to ask, but at least, I knew that right now, I wasn’t at the risk of being killed.

“So, what should I get you?” Celine asked politely.

“Anything would be fine,” I said.

It wouldn’t be nice to start making demands simply because I knew that Kaelan would have whatever I needed.

“Alright, I will be right back,” Celine said and walked out of the room.

Just then, my phone rang. When I saw that it was Aria, I wondered why she was bothering to call me. She hadn’t called since I caught her in bed with Thorn, so why was she calling me now?

Anyway, I picked, just in case she wanted to offer an apology, which of course, I still wanted to hear after all they did to me.

“Yes,” I said into the phone after picking up.

“Where are you?” Aria asked.

First of all, she didn’t even sound like someone who was remorseful, and secondly, that was a rude question to ask someone that she had greatly offended.

“Why do you ask?” I asked her in return.

“Because we are sisters,” she answered, much to my amusement.

I was more upset, but I was also amused at the words that could come out of Aria’s mouth. My anger simmered, and I didn’t bother to keep it under wraps.

“Did you just call us sisters?” I asked her angrily.

“Yes,” she responded.

“You have no idea what that word means, Aria,” I told her. “I took care of you like I gave birth to you, Aria. You never had to work hard or struggle for anything, and yet, this is how you repay me by sleeping with my fiancé?” I questioned her bitterly.

“Thorn loves me,” Aria said.

I gritted my teeth and tightened my jaw in annoyance.

How did I ever think that she would be repentant?

“I can’t do this with you,” I said and proceeded to end the call.

“Wait, don’t hang up just yet!” Aria said, and I didn’t.

I couldn’t even fathom why I didn’t because I was already very upset with her, and I didn’t want to continue talking to her right now.

“What is it, Aria?” I asked her.

“A package came for you in the mailbox, and it might be important,” Aria said. “Are you going to be back soon or should I have it sent to wherever you are?” Aria asked.

This was a tough one because I knew that it could be important. Mails or packages didn’t just come around like that, and I didn’t want Aria to look through it.

“Send it to Kaelan’s mansion,” I told her.

There was a slight pause.

“Hold on a second, isn’t that Thorn’s father’s house?” Aria asked, sounding surprised.

“I will text you the address,” I said and ended the call before she could say another word.

Talking to Aria seemed to rile me up, especially when she still wasn’t remorseful. When I heard a knock on the door again, I was relieved to have something else to distract me from my thought.

Celine entered the room, but she came empty-handed.

“Mr. Kaelan wants you downstairs right now,” she informed me.

I sighed deeply, said, “Okay,” and then followed her downstairs.

When we arrived downstairs, I was surprised to see that Kaelan had summoned all his domestic employees.

“What is going on here?” I asked Kaelan quietly so that they wouldn’t hear me.

“Putting a name to it,” Kaelan answered, also quietly.

Without wasting time, he turned to his employees, and spoke to them.

“I already stated that she is Seraphina, and she will be staying here for now,” Kaelan started. “But I think I failed to mention that she is just a distant family relative,” he added.

What? What a lie, and I couldn’t believe how disappointed I was.
