Chapter 2

Chapter 2

If there was anything that could make Mira confirm she had made the right decision, it was the fact that she immediately felt a sense of belonging with these people as soon as she arrived.

It was not really the warmth and respect she got from them, but she could feel the connection. Could it be, then, that all the twenty-two years of her life were spent without really knowing who she was?

Nyssa told her she was a princess, betrothed from birth to the Alpha. Even though she was new here she already knew whom she could rely on. Nyssa was so patient with her, asking all her curious questions.

She also seemed to hold a great place amongst the people, Mira noticed as Nyssa sang orders around and they were swiftly followed.

Even though she did not know much about werewolves, she was sure Nyssa would keep her up with them.

However, there was one thing she had not been clarified on. She was to marry the Alpha but she had not as much as set her eyes on him since her arrival.

"Am I going to see the king soon?" Mira asked Nyssa who hung around as the maids transformed her. Mira caught the little twitch at the corner of Nyssa's face.

"Patience my lady," she replied calmly. "You will be taken to him soon."

Mira nodded and waited just like she was told to. Everything here was not as different from where she was coming from, except these people had supernatural powers as she was told.

This was a chance to change her life for good, Mira said excitedly within her. She did not have to worry about working her hands off to get money for her parents, nor did she have to worry about the physical and verbal abuse.

Here, she would be queen and have maids answer to her. It was like a dream, except it was not. Soon enough, she was ready to meet her husband, the King and Alpha of this great kingdom.

Mira looked in the mirror and she could not believe she actually looked that pretty. She was completely transformed.

She was escorted to the Alpha's beautiful chambers and entered alone. Mira's eyes danced round the large room as she walked with slow graceful steps.

Everything screamed luxury and she was sure this was what people meant when they said heaven on earth.

A strong hand suddenly grabbed her waist from behind, and a light gasp escaped her lips. She was faced by a great wall of masculine chest and when she looked up, the most charming face was against hers.

She had never seen anyone who looked as breathtaking as the man before her for she was indeed breathless.

Is this the man who was going to be her husband? Mira wondered to herself because the sheer perfection melted her.

She looked down his naked upper body and he lifted her chin back to his face.

"Eyes up here," he said, and there was no emotion in his voice. Yet, the very sound of it sent electrifying shivers down Mira's spine.

She panicked when his hands began to find the end of the clothes so carefully and beautifully worn on her, and she tried to stop him.

He frowned at her, his eyes dark.

This was their first time together, and she thought they were supposed to get to know each other first.

"Don't hold back," that sounded more like an order. "I am not a very patient man."

"I..I don't even know your name," Mira tried to protest, but he held her hands up and pinned her against the wall.

No matter how she tried, she couldn't get those hands freed, and to her horror, he tore off the fine linens on her body.

Mira's heart pounded in her chest. She was not ready for this yet somehow, her body yearned for him. There was a bond she could not understand. She had never met this man before.

Even though he was very hot and the king, Mira was not pleased with the way he assaulted her body, taking possession and owning every part like she owed him.

She, however, willed herself to subjection under him. He was, after all, going to be his husband.

She could not tell if she had blacked out or fallen asleep after he was done with her, but she woke up alone in bed, naked, without even the duvet, at least, covering her body.

Her body arched from all the rough thrusting of the King and while she was trying to get herself, the door was yanked open and three guards walked in.

Mira gasped, rushing for the duvet with a strong wave of embarrassment. How could they walk in on her like that?

But they did not look like they cared, nor did they let her cover herself and they dragged her out of the room.

Mira was filled with shame and confusion. Why were they treating her like this? How could they drag her out with everyone watching, maids and all?

They took her to the courtroom where a couple of people sat, and the King, whom she had just given her body to, sat on the high throne.

Mira bowed her head in shame, furtively shielding her nakedness. They looked at her with disdain, including the king.

"Did you really think you could have a place here?" He spat. "I will never have a mere human for a wife and the pack will not have you as their Luna. I, Alpha Theron, reject you as my mate."

How could he say such things to her? The tears fell freely from her eyes.

"Get rid of the human," he ordered coldly. "Throw her into the burning furnace."

Mira shot her head up in shock, all feeling of shame replaced by fear of death.

"Why?" She cried weakly. What did she do to deserve this? All cries and pleas fell on deaf ears as she was dragged away. Her eyes met with Nyssa's blank expression, and she knew immediately that she knew...

She should have stayed back home instead of believing this total stranger who deceived her. She did no one any wrong.

In excruciating pain, Mira cried out for vengeance as the fire consumed her.
