Chapter 5
"Mira!" Someone shook her a bit roughly, and she jumped slightly, turning to look at Cindy, who was also a cleaner like her, wearing the same apron. Cindy eyed her, wondering what it was with her. "Why are you looking like someone who has just seen a ghost?"
"I feel like someone has just walked in here," Mira found herself saying in a low tone, even though it wouldn't have made any sense to Cindy, who looked at her weirdly.
"Of course someone did," Cindy affirmed, and Mira's eyes widened.
"Really?" She gasped lightly. "Who's it?"
The expression on Cindy's face heightened.
"Why, it's the C.E.O.," she told her. "He comes here once in a while to supervise and that is what he's here for."
"Ther...Theron?" Mira asked, her heart racing wildly in her chest.
"Dravin Lucas," Cindy was sure Mira was out of her damn senses by now. "Look, no one has the time for this drama you are putting up. It's likely since everyone is crazy about Dravin, but he's never going to look at you that way. You are just a cleaner in this company and you're probably never going to set your eyes on him till you leave this place. I have been here for five years now and I have never seen him. You'd better get yourself together."
"Uh, thanks?" Mira did not know if she should go through all the trouble of explaining to Cindy she was not drooling on the C.E.O., in fact, she was on the verge of running for her life.
When she had turned in the direction she felt the strange wind, she saw the tall man who had almost passed for Alpha Theron, being escorted into the building. She could not see his face because of all that security and now she was more confused when Cindy told her he was Dravin and not Theron.
But Theron is a werewolf. He is the King and Alpha of his pack. Does he also own this company and she has walked right into his trap without knowing?
Theron, Dravin?
There was no connection with the names whatsoever but then...that feeling was so familiar. And it felt so close like Theron was there with her.
She was thankful for the little information Cindy had given out, though she had never spoken to the lady. However, she decided she was going to look into the C.E.O.'s profile.
Cindy had told her there was no way she could ever cross paths with him, but what Mira really needed to confirm was who that man actually is.
She might just have to run away again, or might as well kill herself than go through all that with Theron and his people.
After going through the big offices and compartments in the company, Dravin had a meeting with the board which lasted for long hours.
It was a very important moment for everyone in the company, especially the top leaders as they might end up losing their jobs within the twinkle of an eye with any slight mistake.
Dravin was not the man for any silly mistakes. He was what they call a perfectionist and people would rather use him to define the word excellence. Extremely strict and unsmiling, Dravin only wanted the very best, and that was why his company thrived as one of the top in the whole world.
At the end of the day, the meeting finally came to an end, but Dravin did not seem quite satisfied.
"I am going to stay back a few more weeks," he told the manager.
"Weeks!?" The man blurted before he could hold himself and he quickly apologised. He did not expect that since Dravin had never stayed that long before.
It would mean more trouble for him and his team.
"Make preparations," Dravin continued as if the manager had not shown any reaction. "I will be around for a little while to confirm some runnings here."
"I will do that immediately, sir," the manager said with a light bow. Dravin waved some fingers in the air, indicating he was done with him, and the man walked out.
"Not meaning to question you, but you never mentioned you were going to stay back here," Alvin, Dravin's closest assistant, almost friend, who followed him everywhere, stated after the manager had walked out and they were left alone.
Dravin stood up and walked towards the window. He stood there for a little while, his back turned to Alvin with no answers coming forth.
"Dravin are you okay?" Alvin had to ask. "You seem a little off. Are you distressed about something?"
"Someone's here," Dravin finally said before turning back to look at Alvin who stared back quizzically.
"Who's here?"
"I can feel her presence," Dravin said more to himself than to the other man in the room. Well, Alvin had been with him long enough to understand him to a great extent even though he seemed unreadable and cold. "But I don't know where exactly she is. She must be in this city because since I landed here, I have been feeling it."
It did not take Alvin long before he understood what Dravin was talking about.
"I am staying back so I can find her," Dravin told him. "We'll be on the watch throughout the city. I must find her."
"I understand," Alvin nodded. "What will you have me do?"
"Just be on standby until I ask you to move," Dravin said. "But be on alert because I am very positive she is here. Meanwhile, while I am on that, keep an eye out for me on the top members of the board. I have a feeling they are up to something fishy."
"Will do boss," Alvin said. "Is there anything I need to do again?"
"Nothing for now," Dravin went quite after now, but his eyes spoke volumes, his brows creased in focus. He had waited all his life for a moment like this, and it's finally here. He cannot let it...her slip out of his hands.
