Nyx's Pov

I stared at Caspian’s name glowing on the screen, my fingers tightening around the phone. My heart skipped once, twice, before I swiped to answer.

“Hello?” My voice came out softer than I expected.

“Nyx.” His smooth voice filled my ear, warm and deep. It sent a shiver down my spine even though I was standing under the grey, open sky.

“How are you?”

“I’m alright,” I said, but even I could hear how careful my tone was. “And you?”
