Episode 003

Emma's Pov

By the time I arrived at my dorm, it was 7:00 am. I slid into my suite, hoping that my friends were still fast asleep, seeing that they partied last night and thankfully, they were.

The whole parlour was messy, filled with trash from last night's party, screaming to be cleaned.

I went to my room and noticed that the sheets were changed. I was grateful that Cassy and Lana had helped with that but I couldn't help but remember how Alec had broken me, sleeping with the school bully on my birthday, on my bed.

Laying down, I looked at the ceiling, then flashes of my one night stand with Lucas came to mind. I felt a pang of guilt. How did I end up sleeping with Mr. One Night, One Girl just to spite Alec?

Forcing my brain to shut down, I slowly drifted back to sleep.

My alarm buzzed incessantly on my bedside table, disrupting my sleep that I hadn't gotten enough of and irritating me.

I got up and my legs led me to the living room where Lana sat on the couch, having bread and jam.

“Oh, you’re awake,” she chipped and I nodded, heading to the fridge to gulp down water.

“Are… you okay?” Lana asked, scrutinizing me as I dropped on the couch opposite her. I nodded affirmatively, forcing a smile.

Before she could say something else, Cassy walked out from the bathroom, drying her hair and wearing a white robe. “Gurl, you're home? Where did you sleep last night?” She asked.

“I… I just needed to go out to get a breather,” I answered briskly and they both nodded, understandingly.

“You know, you never said anything to us about you and Alec dating. Why?” Lana asked.

“I'm sorry,” I replied. “He told me we should keep it a secret. He said he'd reveal our relationship on a special day and I thought it was going to be yesterday, only to find him with…” I choked on my words, the scene of last night replaying in my mind as my eyes got glossy from fresh unshed tears.

“Oh…” Cassy walked up to me and gave me a hug. “Don't worry about it, Emma. You know what, fuck boys!”

“Yeah, fuck them,” Lana chimed.

“They're all pieces of shit! Bunch of losers… okay, maybe not all of them but fuck Alec. He doesn't deserve you,” Cassy continued. “You're going to make one heck of a doctor or lawyer or astronaut. Alec can burn in hades.”

I smiled genuinely this time. Cassy always had a way of cheering me on. Can't believe she still doesn't remember what I wanna be… well, maybe it's because I still didn't know what I wanted either. Hilarious.

Looking at Lana's sorry eyes though, I couldn't help but feel hurt again. I had trusted and loved Alec so much that I never envisioned he would treat me this way. And worse, with someone who's nothing but a bully.

Seeing how tears fell down my eyes, my friends came to me and hugged me deeply.

After our brief moment, I decided to study my book for an upcoming exam.

“What the…” Cassy gasped.

I looked up at her to see her glare at me before slamming my books shut.

“Hey… I was reading that,” I complained.

“Yeah, right. Have you forgotten we are going for Hockey practice?”

I rolled my eyes. It was just a damned practice. Why does she have to always attend?

“Well, you can go alone, Cas,” I replied, attempting to reopen my books but she placed her perfectly manicured hand on it, stopping me.

“Who will I talk to?” She asked and I groaned in frustration. “You know you're the only one I have and no, Lana will never go with me and… I can't miss a chance at drooling over Lucas.”

Her last statement left a pang of guilt within me.

Cassy had always had a thing for Lucas even though he never really saw her. She drools over him, attends all his matches and training. It was a fact that she was obsessed over him. And now, I just had sex with the guy my best friend had a crush on.

“Come on, I heard he's trying out a new trick today. Pretty please…” She pouted.

“Fine,” I muttered and went to change into dark, crazy jeans and a hoodie.

We decided to stop at the cafeteria to pick some snacks but Cassy wouldn't stop talking about Lucas.

“And gurlll… his chest, they're so hot… like carved differently and you have no idea how much I wanna just touch them.”

Her words were getting to me, making me reminisce on our one night stand and for some strange reason, it felt good.

“Hi Lucas!” Cassy chirped, her cheeks heating up as she started playing with some strands of her hair.

Shock ran through me but I distracted myself by looking anywhere else but at him, however, I could feel his gaze burning on me as he walked towards us.

“Heard you're working on a new trick. Can't wait to see you show it. I bet your opponents will regret being on the same rink with you,” Cassy said as he stopped in front of us.

“Yeah! I'm definitely letting them know who's the best in the next game,” he said and Cassy laughed, playfully toughing his arm.

Our order was ready and Cassy offered to go pick them, leaving me and Lucas alone.

“Hi, Em,” he dropped and I nodded, instantly feeling awkward by the silence that took over.

I wanted the ground to open and swallow me or for an event to just occur and take him away from here, anything at all but nothing happened. While his fierce gaze made me uncomfortable, it still made me feel drawn to him.

“Can you stop staring already?” I asked, unable to bear it any longer.

“Wait, is that shyness I see there?” He asked and then laughed. “Who would have thought a day would come that the sharp tongued Emma Winston would be shy around me?”

He was right, I was never shy around him. I was rather very outspoken but I and Lucas never had this sort of closeness. We were never alone until last night.

Nobody even knew that I had an acquaintance with him. We only saw each other when he came to visit Max and when he tried to tease or make fun of me, I always gave him a taste of his own medicine.

My gaze turned into a glare. “I'm not shy, Lucas. Just piss off,” I said to him, unable to hold his gaze.

“Wait,” he started, his voice becoming somewhat serious and somewhat playful. “Is this because of what happened between us last night?” He asked.

“What happened last night?” A chorus came from behind me. I turned around to look at them;

Max and Quincy. Their faces, squeezed in confusion.
