Episode 004

Emma's Pov

My mouth hung open. Max and Cassy gave me suspicious looks and I'm certain it's because I must have guilt written all over me.

Trying so hard to come up with something to say to them, my mind became blank. No words were forming, none was cohesive and I stood there, numb.

But what was repeating in my mind was a question I definitely don't have an answer to: What will my friend and my brother who has warned me against Lucas do if they find out about my one night stand with him?

“Last night… we… uhm…” I managed to force out but still, no lies were forming.

“We had a blast… the best time ever,” Lucas dropped. We all swung our heads to look at the smug smile on his face, showing that he was enjoying this and he continued. “Wait, she didn't tell you what we did?” Lucas asked Cassy who simply shook her head in confusion.

“Tsk… that's a shame,” Lucas said, making a cold run down my spine.

‘What in the goddess’ name is this guy doing?!’ my wolf screamed inside me.

I was so toast.

“Emma… what happened last night?” Cassy asked me, confusion written on her face while Max's gaze bore holes into me.

“We… uhm…”

Oh fuck! What am I going to say now? Fuck Lucas for putting me on the spot.

Cassy nodded her head slowly, nudging me to go on. “We… uhmmm…”

“We went for a run in our wolf form,” Lucas said and Cassy mouthed an ‘Oh’ while Max nodded. “She met me when I was in the woods and we ran together,” he added, eyeing me playfully.

Looking at them, I could see that they bought it and so I released a sigh I didn't know I was holding.

That was so close.

“I go out for a few days and you guys are already running together? What, you both besties now?” Max asked, shoving Lucas who laughed, reducing the tension.

“Hey, Lucas!” Someone called behind him, “Come on, man.”

“That's my cue. See you around,” Lucas said, his gaze not leaving mine. He turned and left. I turned to talk to Max but he had already gone.

“Okay… that was kinda awkward, right?” I said jokingly, laughing weirdly but Cassy just stared at me like I had grown another head.

“You. Went. On. A. Run. With Lucas?!” She whisper-yelled.

Oh my goodness. I thought we were over this already.

I nodded slowly, praying she just drops it but no, knowing Cassy, she wouldn't and she didn't.

“Spill. Everything. Now!”

I managed to convince Cassy that I'd tell her the full gist after the training, reiterating that the training was about to start before I could get her off my back.

After what had happened, I had lost my appetite for food and so I just sipped from my orange juice while Cassy munched on her chips.

Looking around the rink with mostly students who were huge fans of Lucas gathered, my eyes found their way to Alec who was engaged in a conversation with Quincy.

They both looked like they were in a heated conversation until Quincy angrily left the rink, making me wonder what it was about.

The training started and the cheerios cheered on while the boys trained.

With every goal he scored, Lucas’ eyes always found its way back to mine, in a smirk. It was getting heated with every second and it felt like people were beginning to notice; something I wasn't ready for.

“You alright?” Cassy asked on seeing my discomfort. Ever so bubbly, she had already made some new friends and had no idea what was actually going on between me and Lucas.

“Yeah… just a slight headache from last night,” I said and Cassy stared at me sadly. “I think I'll just go take a nap.” She nodded and I made my way out.

Stepping out, I sighed a sigh of relief.

The looks Lucas was giving me were just… off. Too possessive. Too lustful. Too hungry. And strangely, even though my mind warned me to stay clear, I still somewhat liked it and I hated myself for it.

I was just a normal student with nerdy vibes and I liked it that way. Having the school's golden boy, the most popular boy and the Alpha of the Pack giving me such looks will attract attention to me and with such attention comes enemies, especially from overzealous, obsessive fans of Lucas.

So, no, I didn't want that.

I walked down the corridor that led to the exit but suddenly, Quincy and her minions came out of nowhere, blocking me.

“What do you want, Quincy?” I asked, already irritated by this.

“I want you to stay off my man, you stupid nerd,” she dropped.

It took everything in me not to scoff. I should be the one telling her that but I knew I wasn't interested in having Alec back. If he could cheat on me with the school's barbie, then he should not bother coming back.

“Oh Quincy… for the school's most popular female student, you sure are dumb. Last I checked, you were the one being banged by my man like a whore,” I said, earning gasps from them all.

The shock in their faces was fulfilling. If they think they're going to bully me like they bully other students, then they're definitely on lala land.

Finally regaining her tongue, Quincy laughed bitterly. “So the nerd can talk. Waw… I didn't take an unloved imp like you to have a tongue,” she said, walking closer to me and continued, “You can bark all you want but if I see you near my man again, even your wolf won't be able to save you.”

“You can have him, Quincy. Alec is nothing but I filth to me right now. So, you can have my dump.” I was not fully over Alec but I was not going to let Quincy reign on whatever she was high on.

To my surprise, Quincy burst into a full blown, hysterical laughter that her minions joined her in, leaving me in daze.

“Oh, no, darling. I'm not talking about Alec. I'm talking about Lucas. He's mine and if I see you go close to him, I'll make sure you limp for the rest of the semester,” she dropped, her face giving no signs that she was bluffing.

My mouth hung open. Did she really mean that? I thought she and Lucas had been done ages ago.

Too stunned to say a word, I stared at her in shock as she walked off with her minions.

One minute she's sleeping with my ex, Alec, the next she wants Lucas? What's really going through her mind?

“You know I'm never going to be hers again, right?” I heard Lucas from behind me. I turned and immediately met with his gaze. We were inches apart and that did something to me, causing me to take a few steps back.

“It's none of my business,” I said and turned to leave but he held my hands. “Really? Why do you keep avoiding me?”

“I'm not avoiding you. I just…” I exhaled, frustrated. “What do you want, Lucas?”

“I want you. All of you,” he dropped.
