MARILYN'S POV

THE NEXT DAY,

PARTY DAY

“Mary, get some cocktails for the guests at table 17!” Mom calls, and I stressfully sprint toward the bar erected at the center of the garden for this purpose.

“I’ll get it. Never mind. You need some rest,” Steve says, taking it before me.

I smile and mouth a “thank you” to him as he leaves with the drinks.

Pheew.

Finally, I achieve a moment of rest.

We never expect the massive turnout for Dad’s welcoming ...
