Elaine’s POV

I watched as Chloe walked away from me, her head dropped in defeat. I closed my eyes, feeling a pang of guilt and regret engulf me. I knew I had hurt her with my decision but that was the way things were supposed to be. What I had to give up for my goals will be worth it.

I could not let my feelings for her cloud my vision. I had to become Luna, no matter what. No matter the cost.

Or was this my reasoning a way for me to cope with losing her? A way for me to lie to myself ...
