The safe room's concrete walls press in around us, but none of that matters because Moira's green eyes are open, alert, focused on my face.

'She's awake. She's alive. She's here.'

I settle into the chair beside her bed, my body aching from the night's battle. Lucas finishes getting his arm stitched up across the room.
