The war room feels suffocating with maps and photographs spread across every surface. Red pins mark the last known locations of our enemies. Blue pins show search grid coverage. Black pins represent dead ends.

Too many black pins.

"We've canvassed a fifty-mile radius," Rex reports, his voice hoarse from coordinating search teams around the clock. "No sign of the vehicles from the park. No witnesses. Nothing."
