A child.

Chapter Four.

Ethan’s POV

I hated this feeling. Five years! Five fucking years! I acted like I was okay with not seeing her, but deep down I really wanted to see her.

She might have cheated on me, but it wasn't easy trying to move on from her. I finally decided to come back and make her come back to me in every ways possible, and yes! That included threatening my brother.

Seeing her again messed me up in more ways than I imagined. I thought I was over her. I thought with time, I’d let everything go. But the moment our eyes met, every memory I tried to bury just came back.

She hadn’t changed much. Still beautiful, still guarded. Except now she had a child.

A child whom I knew nothing about. I wasn't sure about who the father was, and Zoe wasn't going to tell me.

Deep down, I wished that child was mine. I was about to ask her Ari for her age the other day, not until she walked and grabbed ger daughter from me.

Levi wouldn't tell me who the father was too, which was really devastating.

I sat in Levi’s living room, trying to pull myself together. It wasn’t working. The guilt kept eating me alive. I left her. I didn’t even give her a chance to explain.

I raked my fingers through my hair, letting out a deep sigh. She had moved on. Obviously.

With my brother, of all people.

The first time I had heard she was with my brother, I almost ran mad.

Thinking about the devil!

I watched as Levi walked down the stairs with Ari walking alongside with him. It was on a Friday night, and Zoe was yet to come back.

"Where is Zoe?" I questioned Levi immediately he took the last step. Ariana and I haven't really talked ever since that day. They were being over protective of her, which I had no problem with.

I shot him daggers, and he then sigh. He knew what that means.

He checked his watch before giving me a reply, "She told me she won't be coming this night and that was it."

He walked past me into the kitchen. My hand ran through my hair in frustration. She shouldn't be outside this late.

A sharp notification popped up on my phone, interrupting me from my thoughts. I picked it up slowly, eyes landing on the screen.

ZOE TAGGED IN: @BlueRoomLounge

A club?

What the hell was she doing there this late?

I didn’t even think twice. I grabbed my car keys and rushed out of the house. I was driving so fast, I didn’t care if anyone tried to stop me.

She had every right to be out. But still... I didn’t like it.

I walked into the club, the loud music hitting my ears instantly. Lights were flashing everywhere. People were dancing, laughing, drinking — but none of them mattered to me.

I only came here for one reason.

I found her in seconds.

She was standing by the bar, a glass in her hand. She looked really good, too good, honestly. But that wasn’t the issue.

A guy walked up to her. He leaned in too close. She was obviously drunk, how much has she drank. I watched as his hand caressed her shoulders.

Something snapped in me.

I walked towards the both of them, "She's with me." I mentioned immediately, a fake smile spread across my face.

"What are you doing here Ethan? Are you stalking me now?" She questioned, slurring on her words.

"It seemed like the lady here isn't quite satisfied on seeing you. How about you move along and let me speak with her." The young guy pulled her towards him.

I wasn't planning on hitting anyone today.

"You are bringing this upon yourself." I warned, and before he could utter any more words, I grabbed the guy by the collar. My fist connected with his jaw before he could even react.

He stepped backwards right immediately, and the Dj stopped the music placing the spotlight on us.

No way I'm going to be their entertainer today.

"ETHAN!" I heard her yell.

But I wasn’t listening.

The guy tried to hit back, but I slammed him against the bar so hard he slipped and hit the ground. The bottles on the bar table fell into the floor, making those shattering sounds.

"Stop it!" She ran to me, grabbing my arm. "You’re going to hurt him!"

"He touched you," I said through clenched teeth.

"And I could’ve handled it!"

"Like hell you could! Do you know how much drank already right now? I'm sure you don't even know the words coming from your mouth right now." I rolled my eyes at her.

My hand held her wrist, while I took a final glance at the man whose jaw must have been broken before I pulled her out of the crowd.

Zoe koet on struggling on our way outside the club.

"You're not my bodyguard, Ethan!" I finally let go off her wrist. "I was having fun. So now that you are here, I can't even have any free treatment for myself?

"No, i'm not your bodyguard, And I won’t let some bastard lay his hands on you like that."

She looked at me like I had completely lost it. And maybe I had.

"I don't fucking need it! I don't need it. You look for Stacy and give her this treatment. Wasn't she the reason why you called off the divorce in the first place? I kept on telling you over and over again that I didn't cheat."

Tears gathered in her eyes. Some people kept on stealing glances at the both of us while they walked past us. That really didn't matter to me right now.

I stared at her. My heart was racing, and I didn’t even know how to explain what was going through my head.

She blinked. I saw her chest rise and fall. Her eyes dropped to the floor.

"Then what were those picture that was sent to me?"

"Oh! Are you really asking me right now?" She stumbled, about to fall but I held her before she could. "You didn't act like you were ever going to listen to me five years ago."

"Still—"

My heart was racing, and I didn’t even know how to explain what was going through my head.

She blinked. I saw her chest rise and fall. Her eyes dropped to the floor.

"Then what were those picture that was sent to me?"

"Oh! Are you really asking me right now?" She stumbled, about to fall but I held her before she could. "You didn't act like you were ever going to listen to me five years ago."

"Still—"

"Why don't you ask Stacy instead? She was the one who had linked me to together with that stupid man." She stated.

Confusion filled by face. I wasn't sure if she was speaking out of jealousy, or she was just saying the pure truth.

"Why didn't you tell me all of this sooner if they were true." I couldn't come up with another question anymore. I just had to say what was in my mind at this point.

She did tried to explain, but the stupid me didn't want to listen to anything anymore.

She tried walking away, refusing to answer any of my questions.

"If truly you didn't do that, then does that mean I am Ari's father?"
