Slade's POV

My heart breathed a deep sigh of relief when she didn't question me. A huge weight was lifted from my chest.

I looked through the door and saw her clenching the sheet as she read through. It was a reminder that she had spent four years of her entire life useless.

Not only was it useless. She'd have to pay for it. The craziness of it all was a good thing to me.
