Tiny package

LYRAEN

“Is he serious? Or joking?” I slammed the gike onto the table, fuming from ear to ear while Elena just sat relaxed on a chair opposite mine.

“Mummy, are you okay?” My son, Eryx asked, running into my office and I fixed my face immediately

“Of course, sweet peas. Mommy's fine, see?” I flashed him a bright smile and he nodded happily.

“Good boy. Now why don't you go play with some of the kids, I'll grab you in a bit.” He nodded and ran off while i turned to stare at Elena again.

“From his message, he's as serious as serious can be.” Elena said throwing a piece of candy into her mouth and I bit my lower lip, a habit I realized helped me calm down.

“So he wants us to help him fight his enemies? Because being ally's is just a lie, I know Talon and that's a really stupid lie. He just wants us to help clean whatever mess he had gotten himself into.” I reiterated and Lena there another piece of candy in her mouth, catching it really dramatically.

“What even makes it more funny is the fact that he doesn't know you're the one he's conceding to.” She stated and an idea immediately began forming inside of my head.

“You're right, Elena. So damn right.” I said bursting into laughter as an idea crawled it's way into my head like a light bulb.

“Okay what I said wasn't that funny though.” She said looking at inquisitively and I shook my head.

I picked up a pen immediately and began drafting a rejection of his ‘ally project’ and once I was done, I hadn't it over to Elena.

“Make sure this gets to him directly. He's a freaking piece of shit.” She nodded and scurried off with the letter while I was left to reminisce again inside of my office.

He wanted help? He wouldn't find it. Before he could seek out a rogue faction and ask for help then I'm quite sure things were already going shitty. And perhaps, none of the normal packs wanted to be a part of the stupid battle they didn't cause.

Jokes on you, Talon. How fast the tables have turned.

I felt thrilled the rest of the evening, having to have given him a taste of his own medicine and I really hoped that more opportunities presented itself.

Later that evening when Elena returned, I listened in bliss as she explained how enraged Talon was that we had rejected his offer.

And I could tell that this was only the beginning, he would do anything to get back at this faction and I would do anything to make sure he regrets it even single time he tried. He was going to be sick of me.

After dismissing Elena as she was heading the beta's as their assistant, with another guy as the head leader — I plead to the goddess that they become mates because they look so good together — after dismissing her, I had a little lesson section with the gamma's and once it was night fall, I took care of my son then sang him to sleep.

I was laying on his bed, by his side when I felt a shadow hovering on the window and my eyes snapped open immediately.

Not making my noise in the dark, I grabbed the dagger that was laying by my side and crept out of bed silently.

I checked out the window and there was no one there. That can't be right though! I'm sure I just saw someone there and it even be n exaggeration.

“Who's there?” I muttered, opening the doors as I heard footsteps down the hallway just nearby and I hid behind the shoulders.

It wasn't just one person but two. Men! Beta's.

They weren't from here and they seemed to be on some kind of mission.

I waited patiently like a serpent that was waiting to strike and once they were close enough, I stepped out, grabbing the one closest to me and pinning him to the wall while the other one scurried away as I kicked the weapon out of the guys hands.

“Please. Please spare me.” I tightened my hold on his neck, pressing him to the wall tighter.

“Who are you and what are you doing here?” I asked, applying pressure to hold him down as I tried to mindlink Elena hoping she was still awake.

“Urgent situation. Spies. I caught one. One escaped, need backup immediately.” I said in broken sentences and the relief I got when her voice came in through the mindlink was second to none.

“On my way.” Elena answered and when I realized this spy was gaining the upper hand, I hit hi at the back of his neck so he went into unconsciousness immediately.

“Knocked him out?” Elena questioned and I nodded as we both dragged him down the dungeon where he would be interrogated and locked up.

“Who sent you?” I asked, splashing water on the spies face for the 5th time now and then grabbed a dagger.

“I'm sick of this. Who sent you or I'm going to start cutting your fingers off into tiny bit.” I warned, brining the dagger close to his neck so he could feel how sharp it was and then he gulped.

“Okay fine. Alpha Talon Voss.” I was supposed to be shocked but for some unknown reason, I wasn't. It's as though I was suspecting he would do something like this.

“What did he send you to do exactly? Because I'm sure it's not to look at how big our pack is or how pretty the area is.” Elena stepped in and jmhis eyes darted back and forth while I raised the dagger up again.

“He wanted to find out the status of the person who rejected his offer but then realized it was a woman and none other but Lyraen Dreya. We found out she had a child and that's what he needed details on.” My boy.

Talon wanted my boy, that stupid piece of dung. He stinks and he doesn't even know it.

“He’d take the child, Lyraen. He knows it belongs to him.” I couldn't hold myself any longer so I slapped him across the face and gritted my teeth.

“Let him try. You weren't fast enough to let me know what I wanted though so I'm going to cut just one finger because I need to send a message.” He was bound to the swelthering chair and I stared at his fingers and then settled for the one that had the little nice ring in it.

As I slicked through it with the dagger, he screamed, wincing in pain. It was nothing personal but he had been there that day when I was framed and even helped in telling Talon to exile me.

Wait, I guess that makes it personal then.”

I grabbed a pen and immediately wrote the few words: “The past comes back to haunt, Voss.”

And then wrapping the finger I had cut in it, I threw it into an envelope and then handed it to Elena.

“I want him to get my package really early.”
