Thalia's pov
I forced my eyes open. White ceiling. Blue walls. Transparent white curtains. What happened?
There was no one to ask. The room was empty. I struggled to sit up on the bed. The flashbacks came. I made a lavish dinner. Ianth asked about Mirelle and got angry.
A dull pain hit my head and hands. They were bandaged tightly. I remembered bleeding and I went unconscious.
The door opened and Anna, one of the maids in the house, came in. She walked inside with a basket of food. "Madam!" Her face beamed with smiles as soon as she saw me awake.
"What happened, Anna? Why am I here?" I asked, trying to adjust my stiff neck.
"We saw you in the dining room. Everywhere was filled with broken pieces of plates and blood. That was why we brought you to the hospital." She explained.
My mouth parted in surprise. "We? Where is my husband and my son?" I questioned.
Why weren't they here? I expected to see my family beside me in the room.
Anna bowed a little, her eyes roaming around, probably contemplating if she should tell me.
"Anna? What happened? Where are Eirik and Ianth? They are supposed to be here."
She shook her head, "I don't know the details of what happened. But the master left you in the living room and went after young master Ianth. In the end, he had to take his son out for fun and informed us to tell you not to wait for him."
My heart dropped. A chill raced down my spine. "For fun?" Barely a whisper. My mind was in turmoil. "With who? It is almost 11pm. Get me my phone." I demanded.
"Master told us not to disturb him." Anna handed me the phone.
That was none of my business. I was his wife and I had the right to know about my son. I unlocked my phone and clicked on the contact list. I dialled Eirik’s phone number immediately.
The line connected. But it rang for eight whole times without him picking it. My heart thudded like a beating drum. Was it Mirelle he went to see again? Pick your calls, Eirik.
I tried again, multiple times. I dialled Ianth's IPAD line. It rang twice before it was answered. "Ianth sweetheart?" Heat licked up my neck, my voice shaking slightly.
"Ianth is asleep." Mirelle's voice. The line went dead almost immediately.
My fingers trembled on the phone as I gripped it tightly. What was Mirelle doing with Ianth again? Was that the fun Eirik referred to?
I went unconscious. Eirik was unbothered. The first thing he could lie about was taking Ianth for fun in the dead of the night when he actually took her to Mirelle.
Specifically, I begged him to let Mirelle go. I asked him to send her away. What was the point of everything? What was the point of sending her away when they could still look for her elsewhere?
"Madam?" Anna called.
But I wasn't listening. The room smelt like it was closing in on me. Cheating wasn't the only bad thing Eirik did boldly. He was making things worse by forcing Ianth to attach with her.
"The doctor.....where is the doctor?" I questioned. "I want to get discharged."
Anna left the room to get the doctor. That was the space I needed. I didn't want her to see me cry. I couldn't allow her to see how broken I was.
My family was breaking and I couldn't do anything about it. I was hospitalized. Eirik didn't check in with me. He found comfort with his mistress.
My breath released shakily as I laid on the bed. Tears fell from the corners of my eyes. I sniffed, reminiscing on the days Eirik saw me as his goddess. I had become a stranger to him.
"Mrs Jones." The doctor came in with a smile.
I sat up again, trying to cover my face up with the same warm smile. "Hi doctor. Can I get discharged tonight? Are there any complications?" I asked.
"You are getting discharged too quickly. No complications. The bleeding has been taken care of. You just need to be careful with your bandages so it won't reopen. Other than that, make sure to rest well."
I nodded, thanking him repeatedly.
"You may need to sign here." He gave a file to me. "There's a box for your husband or next of kin. Is Mr Jones not around?" He asked.
My trembling fingers paused on the signing papers. "Eirik is busy. I can manage myself with the maid." I managed to smile even when my heart was aching badly.
Eirik was my husband. But he was more concerned about his mistress. He didn't even have any idea that I had been in the hospital.
Did I make a mistake in getting married to him? Was it a mistake to give birth to a child for him? Why do they not all care about me?
"Alright. We can just leave it blank since you are one of our esteemed clients." The doctor wrapped up the file, gave other warm pleasantries before leaving.
Anna helped me pack up. I changed the hospital dress into new ones. We left the hospital and got into the car. It was one of the securities driving.
I relaxed on the car seat, having another lapse of thoughts. I was confused about what to do. How do I take my home back?
The house was empty yet again. My husband's and son's room were both empty. I had no choice than to sleep on my cold matrimonial bed.
My phone suddenly vibrated. I picked it up.
My pulse could be heard loudly in my ears. Text messages. Pictures of Ianth sleeping in between his new parents. Eirik’s head on her small bossom.
Mirelle, that witch. Was she using some kind of spell on my family? My nails dug into my palms, almost drawing blood.
I have to do something about it. No, there was nothing else I could do. If they could treat me this way, what was keeping me from doing the same?
