Thea's Pov
I opened my mouth to speak but a sharp whistle cut me off. I looked towards the direction of where it came from. Damien stood by the car, his fingers cladded in black gloves and beckoning me to come. I'm guessing my five minutes was over.
My sister hugged me hurriedly and scurried off. I really wanted to speak with my father, to clear the air but I didn't have a mindlink. Not having a wolf meant not having a mindlink.
What was going on? Why would my father lie about Astra having a mate? What was the real reason he didn't want Astra to marry Damien? Am I to be the sacrificial lamb? My head was spinning with the thoughts running through it.
Another sharp whistle brought me out of my musings. Damien had an eyebrow raised and I knew he wouldn't mind coming over here to drag me.
With my heart full of trepidation, I walked towards the car. Damien was already seated in the car. I bit my tongue hard to stop the tears that had formed from falling.
I was a huge romantic at heart and ever since I was young, I had always dreamt of a guy who would sweep me off my feet with affectionate gestures.
And here i was, with a husband that wouldn't even open a car door for me. I chuckled bitterly.
I took a deep breath and entered into the car, sitting as far as I could from Damien. The car was wide enough to have the space I needed.
“Took you long enough." Damien coldly said. I glanced at him, he was typing furiously on his phone but I had no doubt that he was aware of my every move.
I swallowed,”I-i'm sorry." I stuttered, nervously wringing my hands. He glanced at my hands and sighed in annoyance.
“Just don't keep me waiting again." His voice was bland, like a robot.
" I won't, I’m sorry.” I whispered. He slammed his hands angrily on the window, I flinched hard.
“Would you just stop apologizing?! God, you're so weak, my pack will have you for breakfast.” He said brutally.
I bit my tongue to stop the apology that had already formed there. I clenched my trembling fists and hid them in laps but I knew he could smell my fear. I heard him sigh deeply but I didn't dare look at him.
He wasn't lying about his pack though. They weren't the biggest pack but they could wipe out any pack including the biggest pack. It had happened once before.
The Nightshade pack, where all offenders were taken to be punished. And I was currently sitting with their alpha.
My chest was getting tight and my breathing became shallower, my breath coming out in pants. I was having an anxiety attack.
I felt a gloved hand on my arm. The knowledge of who it was made the situation worse. Black dots lined my vision before overtaking it.
I passed out.
___
Warm rays of sunlight hit my face causing me to groan and stretch languidly on the cloud-like bed I was currently on.
Wait, that isn't right…
I opened my eyes and sat up with a jolt. I scanned my surroundings, I was in a brightly lit and well furnished room. The bed I was on looked as comfy as it felt. I scratched my neck in confusion.
A knock sounded on the door. I looked down to make sure I was decent and to my surprise, I had on a different set of clothes. I looked around for my set of clothes but they were nowhere in sight.
The knock sounded again and a girl peered in. She smiled sheepishly when she saw me staring at her.
“Hi, I knocked but there was no response so I figured you were sleeping or something like that….” She trailed off. I knew she was getting uncomfortable with the way I kept staring at her but I couldn't help it.
“You're so blue." I stated. It wasn't that her skin was blue, she just had blue hair and was dressed in various shades of blue.
“Try guessing my favorite color. My name is Becca but everyone calls me Smurf.” She giggled.
" Yeah, I can see why. I'm Al–Astra.” My heart pumped faster at my mistake, how could I be so stupid? Just the first person and I'm already blowing my cover. I eyed her cautiously but she showed no sign of noticing my blunder, my heart slowed,
I continued, “It's nice to meet you. Perhaps you can tell me where I am.” It came out as a question.
" You're in the Nightshade pack. Alpha Damien brought you in last night. We thought you were dead. Personally, I'm glad you're alive.” She grinned and I couldn't help but smile back, she had such an infectious smile.
“I'm glad too. Becca, who changed my clothes?" I watched as the grin slid off her face and she shuffled uncomfortably.
“Um, Alpha Damien changed your clothes." She said weakly. I stared at her blankly. Damien changed my clothes, Damien saw me naked, my face began to burn slowly. I sighed, well it wasn't like he hadn't seen it all before.
“Oh." I squeaked.
“He’s waiting for you at his office. I'm supposed to take you there when you've woken up.”
“Lead the way then.” I hoped my cheeks would get less red before I got there.
Few moments later…
I took in a deep breath and knocked on the mahogany door leading to Damien's office.
“Enter." a deep husky voice said from inside the office. I opened the door and promptly made a face-plant on the floor. There was an awkward silence then he broke it.
“Did you just trip over nothing?” Damien asked, confused. I groaned silently wishing I could die or at least be swallowed by the floor.
“Not even up to a day and you’re already falling for me." His voice sounded amused. I raised my head to retort back but the sight of him made whatever I was about to say get stuck in my throat.
He was sitting at his table cleaning his red stained hands on some napkins. I really hope that's ketchup I thought, nauseous but something told me it definitely wasn't ketchup.
I laughed awkwardly and lifted myself from the floor, dusting my clothes. I looked at him again, there was any hint of recognition I'm his gaze, it was like he was looking at a stranger. Maybe, I can do this, maybe I can actually pretend to be astra.
“What happened between the car ride and here?” I timidly asked. He was licking his fingers now.
"You had a panic attack, puked and fainted." He said simply. His various moods were giving me whiplash. I've only known this guy for two days and I've seen so many sides to him.
“Thank you for changing me." I said hesitantly. I didn't want to trigger a change of mood, he was actually being agreeable right now.
“Just so you know, I didn't look away. I never said I was a gentleman. It's nice to finally see someone with real D-cups. They're real right?” He raised one brow, an annoyingly hot smirk in place.
My cheeks flamed and I was very aware of the fact that I wasn't wearing a bra. I folded my hands on my chest but they only drew his eyes to that region like magnets. I dropped my arms instantly.
“T-that's none of your business." I stuttered moving backwards as he walked casually towards me.
“Isn't it?" He drawled, a mischievous tone on his voice. His scent was making me feel dizzy and intoxicated, I felt drunk on it and it was making it harder for me to think. His scent took me back to that night filled with pleasure, I clenched my legs together to stop the growing desire.
I shook my head to clear the haze, “what are you doing?” I whispered. His fingers came up to gently graze my cheeks, making a trail across my lips which automatically parted.
“You tell me……Althea.” A dangerous smirk danced across his lips as his eyes went blank.
Oh shit, he knows?…
