"Ladies and gentlemen, here we welcome the guest star we've been waiting for, it's Nellie!"
I stepped out gracefully, waving to everyone sitting and watching on the benches. I put on a big smile, my open mouth showing my teeth to the camera.
"Nellie, hi! Nice to see you tonight. How are you?"
"Hello, Sam. Nice to meet you too. I'm very well now, Thanks for asking." I replied with a big smile as I shook Sam's hand.
I didn't want it to appear that I wasn't really doing well at the moment. As much as possible, I minimized the camera from recording or capturing my gloomy face. A mask was needed in this situation.
I then sat down with a lot of people who were watching me talk to Sam—the host of a talk show. Coupled with the live camera, I couldn't help but be noticed by the people who were watching the show on their television sets at home.
"I'm so happy to finally meet and talk to you tonight, Nellie! I've been waiting for this day to arrive, and you know what? I couldn't sleep last night! Can you believe it?"
The whole audience laughed, and so did Sam. I chuckled softly, my hand covering my mouth.
"I'm very serious, don't think that I'm lying. I'm your fan!"
"I believe you, Sam."
"Really?"
"You can cut my head open to find out if I'm lying or not right now," I replied, which only made the laughter from the audience louder.
Everyone should quickly realize that this is not a comedy show. I'm not a comedian. I'm just good at making songs and singing. That's what people know about me. And because of that, I'm quite proud of myself for being able to make my debut as a singer.
"A new fact seems to have just come to light, you're half singer half comedian, don't you think?"
I chuckled, and the audience followed suit.
Sam raised his hand. "Okay, stop, I'm so pretentious. Now it's time to get serious." He cleared his throat. "Nellie, I have something to ask you."
"Go ahead." I nodded. "That's why I'm here for now, isn't it?"
"Well, I know you because your songs go viral everywhere. People love your music, you're so brilliant. A lot of people relate to your songs because the lyrics are so deep and heartfelt. And many people have also remixed your songs, which have exploded. My question is simple, What are you feeling right now?"
"Oh Sam..." I blushed. I tried to control myself. Everyone loves compliments, and I was no different. If it comes to me, I feel like melting. I loved it. I'm happy that people like what I do, I'm grateful that my hard work has allowed people to get to know who I am, and I can't believe that this fate would bring me here.
I searched around for an answer that I thought was good, suitable, and wise to say. "There are many interesting things happening in my life, Sam. One of them is this. I'm happy, proud, and very grateful for all the good things that have come my way. It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid. Everyone wants their dreams to come true, right? And yeah, I think you can tell how I feel."
My lips formed a wide smile. My eyes then moved from Sam to the people sitting in the audience. "And I want to say thank you to everyone who's been listening, liking, streaming, and buying my album. I really appreciate it. I don't know what else to say, it's one of the most precious things that came my way. Thank you to my fans, you guys support me the most. It really means a lot to me."
The cheers and thunderous applause sounded so loud after I stopped talking.
"Your music is very easy to listen to and easy to like, and the lyrics are really beautiful and deep. Also, your voice is really melodious. Your vocals go very well with my ears. Really, I love it! That's what makes people like you. I'm happy for you at such an early age. You're a topic everywhere now, you're a very talented girl."
"Thank you for saying that. It means a lot to me."
"You're welcome, sweetheart." Sam joked with a wink, making me let out a small laugh. "Okay, now I want to show you something."
I didn't know about that. I waited curiously. I looked at Sam with narrowed eyes. The man was now very mysterious. I'm sure and willing to bet that the audience is just as curious as I am.
Then, my curiosity has not subsided. Sam now took out a box, which I had no idea what it was for. Okay, this is getting very interesting now.
"Oh my God, look at your face!" Sam pointed at me.
I gasped, and the audience laughed loudly.
My eyes were now blinking. "Okay-okay, I can't lie, I'm very curious about that box. What's in it?"
"You want me to open it now?"
"If you don't mind." I shrugged my shoulders.
"Five dollars to open this box."
I gaped. "Are you serious?"
Sam created a lopsided smile. He was serious! For three seconds, I didn't know what to say. I certainly didn't bring any money here! It's useless to dig through my dress trying to find money, no miracle will come out of the blue.
Then, I looked up at the audience. An idea suddenly entered my head. "Hey friends, is anyone holding a five dollar bill, I need it! This ignorant man is trying to blackmail me!"
Sam laughed very loudly, followed by a roar from the audience. I looked at him, shaking my head.
"I have five dollars here." One of the audience members said as she raised her hand.
I immediately stood up from my seat. I waltzed over to the bleachers, or rather, to where the person who said that was sitting. She was in the center seat.
"I'm here." The woman said again.
"I'm coming!" I exclaimed.
After I arrived at the spot, the woman immediately handed me a 5-dollar bill, as I needed it.
"Thank you." I smiled as I shook the bill. "What's your name, by the way?"
"Britney."
"Okay, Britney, meet me in the backstage area after the show."
"I really don't mind."
"Well, I'll take your money."
I headed back to my seat. I deftly placed a five dollar bill on the table.
"This is for you ignorant sir, now open the box." I urged.
Sam took the money quickly. "Thank you, I'll pocket this money."
"And you better hurry up and open that box."
"You seem to be very impatient, Nellie." Sam started holding the box. "Well, I'm not going to keep you waiting any longer, so I'll open the box now for you."
I waited impatiently. My curiosity was peaking. I watched Sam get more and more serious. Then, as Sam slowly began to pull the lid off the box, I subconsciously held my breath. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was curious about what Sam was hiding, but the audience was just as curious as I was.
"Everyone, take a look at this." Sam said as he pulled a paper from there.
My eyes narrowed. And no, it wasn't paper like I thought it was. Technically, it was paper, but I wasn't quite right. It was a large piece of paper folded into smaller pieces. And Sam started to unfold it, showing it to the audience and the cameras.
"In a post she uploaded three days ago on her social media account page, Nellie will release her latest single, titled It's Not My Wish!"
I gaped for a moment as I stared at the audience. They were exclaiming, clapping, and cheering happily at me after Sam said that. Gosh, this was so amazing and beyond my expectations. The folded paper that Sam showed me was the cover of my latest single, which would be coming out soon.
"Nellie, please explain more about this, especially for your fans here. What's going on?"
I smiled. "Okay, it's true. My latest single is coming out this coming Friday at midnight. I'm really excited about it. It will be yours soon."
Sam clapped his hands, followed by everyone else.
"Nellie, your fans are so excited about this. You gave them an unexpected surprise. And I think they want to know more about your latest single."
"Well, there's not much I can tell you about it. I worked on this song with great enjoyment, and I like it a lot too. Don't worry, you won't be able to hear it for long."
"According to the information I got, you worked on this song in the shortest time ever. Is that true?"
"It's true."
"How long did it take you to make it?"
"I managed to write the lyrics for 30 minutes."
"Wow, that's really quite amazing."
"You make me feel like I'm being flown into the sky, Sam. I had such good inspiration. I wrote and recorded the demo right away before I contacted my producer. I can't wait for you guys to hear my new music. The wait until Friday won't be long."
"Okay, it's really very good. And look, in the caption of your post, you said that It's Not My Wish is a song you wrote about your unexpressed feelings for someone you like. That must be true, right?"
"I wrote it, I can't possibly deny it, right? It's true."
"Who is this guy?"
"Someone who once filled my heart for sure. I can't tell you much more, everything will be revealed in It's Not My Wish."
"Then it must be that your second album is coming soon, right?"
I already had a definite answer to this question. "There are many things I've prepared, I have many surprises in store for the future."
"So?"
"Yeah, I can't say for sure when my second album will come out, but I can assure you that it will be worth the wait. I won't disappoint the people who like me, especially my fans. I love you so much, guys!"
Another round of applause.
"We can't wait!" Sam said it excitedly. "Nellie, I think there's something else you need to say to your fans and the audience before we close the show."
My gaze immediately shifted to the camera. I smiled cheerfully. "For the people who are watching this show, I'd be really happy and grateful if you heard and bought my new single coming this Friday. That would mean a lot to me. Thank you very much. And I hope you'll like it!"
"Everyone, give a round of applause for Nellie!"
My stomach instantly exploded with joyful happiness.
