sweet daily life

Since meeting Gu Yanchen’s parents, Su Xiaotang and Gu Yanchen’s relationship has grown more stable and sweeter by the day.

They’re like any ordinary couple—they eat together, watch movies, and stroll through parks.

Even though Gu Yanchen is extremely busy, he always makes time for Su Xiaotang. In the mornings, he personally drives her to work. If he’s not working overtime in the evenings, he picks her up after work, and then they go for dinner together.

On weekends, they head to the supermarket to buy groceries, then return to Gu Yanchen’s apartment. He cooks, and she helps out. Gu Yanchen is an excellent cook; his dishes taste even better than those in restaurants. Su Xiaotang always manages to finish a huge bowl of rice.

“You’ll turn into a little chubby if you keep eating like this,” Gu Yanchen said, chuckling as he looked at her rounded belly.

“Not gonna happen,” Su Xiaotang pouted. “Besides, even if I do get chubby, you have to like me anyway.”

“Of course I will,” Gu Yanchen flicked her nose. “No matter what you look like, I’ll always like you.”

Su Xiaotang’s heart felt warm and sweet. She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.

Beyond these little moments, Gu Yanchen also surprises her from time to time. For example, knowing she loves concerts, he’ll buy tickets in advance and take her; knowing she’s fond of strawberries, he’ll specially have fresh ones空运 from out of town; knowing she’s tired from work, he’ll give her a massage to help her relax.

Su Xiaotang feels like she’s living in a jar of honey, happy every single day.

Everyone at the company is used to seeing the two of them together, and they often joke, “Ever since Mr. Gu got Ms. Su, he’s become so much gentler.” When Gu Yanchen hears this, he just smiles—and then proceeds to dote on Su Xiaotang even more openly.

One afternoon, while Su Xiaotang was working, she suddenly received a message from Gu Yanchen: “Free tonight? I’ll take you somewhere.”

Su Xiaotang replied: “Yeah, I am. Where?”

Gu Yanchen: “It’s a secret. I’ll tell you tonight.”

Su Xiaotang was curious but didn’t ask further.

After work that evening, Gu Yanchen was waiting for her downstairs on time.

“Where exactly are you taking me?” Su Xiaotang couldn’t help asking once she got in the car.

“You’ll see when we get there,” Gu Yanchen smiled, sounding mysterious.

The car drove for over half an hour before stopping in front of a planetarium.

“A planetarium?” Su Xiaotang looked surprised. “Why are you taking me here?”

“You’ll find out once we go in,” Gu Yanchen said, taking her hand and leading her inside.

The planetarium was quiet with few people around. Gu Yanchen led her to a spherical theater, and they were the only ones there.

“Sit tight,” Gu Yanchen said with a smile.

As soon as Su Xiaotang sat down, the lights in the theater dimmed, and a brilliant starry sky appeared on the screen above. Countless stars twinkled before her eyes, as if she could reach out and touch them.

“Wow, it’s so beautiful,” Su Xiaotang couldn’t help exclaiming.

“Do you like it?” Gu Yanchen asked.

“Yes, I love it,” she replied.

“I know you’ve always wanted to see the stars, so I booked the whole place just for you—so you can look to your heart’s content,” Gu Yanchen’s voice sounded beside her ear.

Su Xiaotang froze, then turned to look at him. “How did you know I wanted to see the stars?” She’d only mentioned it once in her diary a long time ago, never thinking he’d remember.

“I read your diary,” Gu Yanchen said, looking a little embarrassed. “I accidentally saw it when I went to your place last time.”

Su Xiaotang’s face instantly turned red. That diary also had some secret grumbles she’d written about him.

“W-what did you read?” she asked nervously.

“I read about a really cute girl who’s secretly got a crush on me,” Gu Yanchen smiled, then leaned down and kissed her lips.

It was a deep kiss, filled with overwhelming affection. Su Xiaotang closed her eyes and slowly kissed him back.

Beneath the starry sky, they held each other tightly, as if the entire world had shrunk down to just the two of them.

After watching the stars, Gu Yanchen took Su Xiaotang to a nearby restaurant.

“Is today a special day?” Su Xiaotang asked curiously.

“Yes,” Gu Yanchen nodded. “It’s our one-month anniversary.”

Su Xiaotang froze—she’d completely forgotten.

“I’m sorry, I can’t believe I forgot,” she said.

“It’s okay,” Gu Yanchen smiled. “As long as I remember.”

He took a small box out of his pocket and handed it to her. “This is for you.”

Su Xiaotang opened the box. Inside was a necklace with a tiny, delicate star pendant.

“Do you like it?” he asked.

“Yes, I love it,” Su Xiaotang’s eyes grew a little teary. “Thank you, Yanchen.”

“Silly girl, why are you being so polite with me?” Gu Yanchen helped her put on the necklace. “It looks beautiful on you.”

Su Xiaotang touched the necklace around her neck, her heart warm.

She felt like the happiest person in the world.
