The house felt cold and sad. My mom left the first thing in the morning. She was so giddy to start her new course.

If I were someone petty, I would say she was happy to get rid of me and leave me here alone by myself, but I knew how much she loved me and how reluctant she was when she found that I couldn’t stay with Catherine.
