I ran my hands through my blonde hair, packing and repacking it into a bun, then leaned my head on the soft comfy seat and shut my eyes.
Not long after I had locked my eyes a heavy bang knocked on the side screen of my vehicle making me shake in tremor.
I had opened my eyes to have a glimpse of who it was to behold Edwards dressed in sky-blue shirt and black pants.
Behind him was a light skinned lady dressed in matching outfit.
Edwards first broke into a smile before waving with his hands, then gestured that I wind down the glass which I did.
“Zina, what in the world brought you here of all places”. Edwards jeered.
I didn't have a chance to respond when the lady who stood behind his arm greeted “Hello Zina”.
I turned in the direction of the lady and bellowed “We haven't met before, how did you know my name?”.
She broke into a mild smile and mumbled “I suspected so when Edwards greeted”.
“Oh”, I replied and gave a nod.
“What's your name?”, I inquired.
“I am Bella Reynolds”.
She giggled.
I knew I couldn't say it was nice meeting her, so I rather said “Alright”, and took my eyes off her and placed them on Edwards.
“I should leave now Edwards”, I spoke up.
“Not so fast”, he pouted. “You haven't told me what brought you here”.
“That shouldn't be your concern Edwards”, I reiterated.
“Well, it isn't but seeing that I met you alone in your car with your eyes shut and your head aback, lost in thoughts, got me concerned.
“Thanks for your concern Edwards”, I smirked briefly.
“I guess you were headed somewhere with Bella, you should get going”. I insisted.
“That’s not an issue Zina”, Bella cuts in, smiling broadly.
“Yes it isn't”, Edwards agreed and smiled at her.
“Oh goodness”, I grumbled and took my gaze off them.
As I looked the opposite direction, I heard Bella in a hush tone suggesting that she returns home while Edwards remains with me. I didn't turn to look at them, not until Bella yelled out “I should meet you some other time Zina”.
I didn't say a word but gave a nod. She smiled and walked away.
The moment she disappeared from sight Edwards spoke up “Hey, what brought you here?” he bellowed.
“But before you say, could you at least let me into the car?”.
I hesitated to let him in, gazing into the open space before saying “Get in”.
He walked to the other side and climbed into the front seat.
“So tell me what brought you here Zina”, he began.
I was fascinated because he really wanted to find out what had brought me to the office complex.
I knew he suspected it could be some sort of legal issue since everyone coming into the building was either an attorney or a complainant and If I'm here it could only mean I have a legal matter to resolve which he desperately needs to know.
I decided to let curiosity eat him deep and rather said “We ain't in a relationship anymore I shouldn't be telling you my life plans and you shouldn't care also”, I uttered without looking in his direction.
I ignited the car engine and pulled out of the parking lot, facing the road.
“Do not forget to remind me where you would alight”, I muttered facing the road.
“Oh wait”, he exclaimed “Could it be related to the billionaire Jameson Irish, the real estate mogul”, he whimpered, after being silent the whole time.
“I noticed his regular visits, in and out of Mr Smith's office some months back”.
Mr Smith is your dad's attorney right”, he asked, but I didn't respond.
I'm certain Mr Smith is your Dad's attorney”, he stated.
I didn't say a word but kept a straight face, watching the vehicle ahead of me.
“Do not tell me your Dad had sold his wine factory to Jameson Irish, the billionaire”, he gaped with wide eyes, his lips slightly parting.
“You were to take over the control of the company upon returning to Texas right?”.
“Yes I was, and my dad sold it off”, I admitted, breaking my silence, my voice almost shaking. “Would you help me get it back, Edwards?”, I begged.
He caressed his dark beard and mumbled "Uhmm, yes I will, but what would I get in return?”.
I had begun to smile when he said he would help, but the smile quickly relapsed to a gloom when he asked what he would get in return.
“Are you helping me or not Edwards?”, I charged and pulled the car to a halt in front of a petrol station.
“Of course I will help out but it isn't for nothing”, he insisted.
“What do you want?”. I asked, my ears itchy for a response.
He didn't respond to the question but rather said.
“We should be at his office in the morning, tomorrow”.
I hesitated before saying the next words, but glanced at his beaming face before asking “Where is this office?”.
“You'll find that out in the morning”, he muttered.
He took my hands in his hands, gazed at me and said “I've missed you a lot Zina” and began stroking them with his thumb.
I made to pull my hands but he was fast to catch them from pulling away and held them firmly with his both hands.
“Looking at your eyes reminds me of how gentle you always were and how you would tickle me with these warm hands”, he blabbed and resumed stroking my palm with his thumb.
“Since we would be meeting Jameson Irish in the morning, I don't mind spending the night with you”, he smirked.
I shut my eyes for a moment trying to hold my stomach from having a backflip. When my eyes opened I blared “Edwards, get out”.
He peered at me in silence, watching my reaction, but I didn't bulge but sternly uttered “Leave now”.
