“Antonio, she’s gone.”

Those words spoken were like a stab to my heart. How was she gone? It made no sense. “There was no trace of her at the diner. Just your car parked in the parking lot, and a bunch of confused workers saying they never saw her.”

Alyssa’s words moved around my mind like a fog, but I couldn’t understand what she was saying. I felt an uneasy feeling in my chest as confliction of worry and anger soared through me.
