Chapter. 2 Shocking Mad Patients

Laura was pensive at her desk. In her hand was a piece of paper with a list of medical equipment needed by Romano’s Hospital. She had just gotten it from her assistant. Laura runs the hospital with the help of several nurses who have been loyal to the hospital for decades since its inception. Both her parents died in an airplane crash five years ago. Since then, Laura has been in charge of the place at a young age. Laura exhaled heavily. Her head hurt every time she read the amount of money written on the paper. Suddenly, there was a knock on her door. It was loud and fast. As if there was an emergency waiting for her downstairs. Laura quickly got up and grabbed the stethoscope from her desk. She hurried out, not wanting anything to happen to her patient.

“What happened?” Laura asked Millie Duncan. Her assistant and confidant in this place.

“There’s a patient waiting for you in the emergency room. He keeps whimpering and saying his chest hurts a lot.”

“Could it be that he has a history of heart disease?”

“I don’t know. You can check later.” They quickened their pace when they saw that the front of the emergency room was filled with people in black suits. Laura frowned briefly. Feeling strange about the scene.

“Our patient is still alive, isn’t he?” whispered Laura.

“Of course,” Millie replied in the same tone.

“Why are they dressed like grieving people?” Laura added. Millie just shrugged her shoulders simultaneously while smiling amusedly with Laura. They soon entered the room. “Good afternoon, sir. What’s wrong with you?” asked Laura as she pulled back the white curtains that restricted her vision. Laura was surprised to see Kylen sitting on the patient’s bed when the curtain opened.

“Hi, Laura. We meet again.”

“You? Why are you here?”

“I want to check my wounds. Isn’t this a hospital?”

“Okay. But why did you have to lie to my nurse? I see you look much healthier than before.” Kylen smiled while turning his face away.

“You haven’t even looked at me yet. How can you say that?” Laura gave him an annoyed look. Then she walked over as Kylen laid down on the bed seductively.

“Let’s take your clothes off!”

“Undress? Should she see our next scene?” Kylen pointed at Millie, who was still standing behind Laura with her face stunned at Kylen’s good looks. Laura looked at Millie, then back at the man.

“What are we going to do? I just want to check the wound on your shoulder.”

“I’m not sure? What if you end up flirting with my sexy body?” Laura looked away with a disgusted expression on her face.

“Don’t get your hopes up, you’re not my type. Take off your clothes already!” Instead of obeying, Kylen sat back down with a fierce face. She grabbed Laura’s waist until she fell on her lap and kissed her forcefully. Laura tried to pull away, but Kylen’s strength was much stronger. Millie, who saw the scene, didn’t dare to help Laura. She could only watch with a confused face mixed with pity.

“Let go! Let go! Let go of me!” Laura screamed as Kylen released her lips. Kylen ignored her and hugged the girl even tighter.

“Look at me! Look at me, Laura! Look at me!” Kylen forced Laura to look into his soothing emerald green eyes. As if hypnotized, Laura slowly calmed down. “You are mine, Laura. No other man can have you. You can only look at me, think of me, and admire me. There is no other man in your heart and mind. Got it!” Kylen threw Laura’s body away after saying that emphatic sentence. Laura could only stare at the man’s departure in annoyance.

“Crazy guy! Who is he? How dare he behave like that in a place like this? I’m going to report him to the police so that he can be held accountable in prison.” An emotional Laura walked out of the emergency room and rushed to the reception desk. As she reached for the phone on the desk, Millie immediately stopped her movement.

“No! No! Stop that! Are you any crazier for wanting to fight him?”

“Why? He’s already made a scene here. I deserve to punish him.” Laura reached for the phone again, but Millie snatched it away.

“You don’t know who he is?” Laura shook her head. “Do you really not know?”

“Who is he? I’ve never seen that man before.” Millie chuckled.

“You’re too busy thinking about this hospital, Laura. That you don’t know about the most ruthless mafia boss in the city. Really, I can’t believe it.”

“What? The mob boss?” repeated Laura, a little surprised.

“Right! His name is Kylen Dominic. The Dominic family is a ruthless mobster who rules this town and is known as the Devil of Colorado. He doesn’t hesitate to harm those who intend to go against him. So, I hope you can rethink your intentions.” Laura paused and then let out a heavy breath.

“Yeah. I hope he never comes back into my life again.”

Laura left Millie and went back to her room. She was still thinking about Millie’s words. Then it moved on to Kylen’s last words before he leaves from this place. Laura shook her head quickly, trying to push the thought away. Soon her cell phone rang. Laura immediately grabbed it and, with a happy face, immediately accepted the call. Hoping a patient needed her help.

“Hello,” Laura greeted.

“Hi, Laura.” The baritone voice instantly changed Laura’s expression.

“Who are you?” Laura asked in a trembling tone of fear.

“I didn’t expect you to forget me so quickly. I was hoping that you would keep thinking about me.”

“Don’t waste time. I know you’re a busy person. Go back to your normal life. And don’t ever bother me again.” Laura immediately disconnected the call with a pale face. She began to panic.

“How does he know my cell phone number?” she mumbled in confusion. Laura’s cell phone rang again. She checked it and it was a different number. Hoping it really was a new patient who needed her help immediately. Laura organized her emotions before taking the call.

“Hello, Doctor Laura from Romano’s Hospital here.”

“Laura Oliver. Born in the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine, January sixth at Medicover Hospital, Warsaw, Poland.” Laura was surprised to hear that. The voice was the same as the previous caller, and that surprised her even more. How did he know her identity? “I know everything about you, dear. So, you don’t need to introduce me again. I’m too independent to be able to get all this information on my own.”

“What do you want?” Laura said curtly.

“Nothing. Just want to get your attention, darling. I told you, didn’t I? You can only think about me.”

“Don’t be stupid. We don’t know each other. Forget what happened last night. If I knew it would be like this. I’d rather let you die.” Laura switched off the phone again. She was really going to go crazy over this. How could she be related to such an asshole? Laura’s cell phone rang again. She tried to ignore it, but it was getting louder. Annoyed, Laura took the call.

“Don’t call me again! Okay!” she snapped angrily.

“Hi. Hi. What’s wrong, dear? Why do you sound so angry?” The look of relief on Laura’s face immediately changed.

“Carlos,” she muttered.
