Laura was sad because she couldn’t get any information about Carlos’ current situation. She reported this to the police. However, they haven’t been able to find out either. In fact, Laura had given all the information she knew about her suspicions of Kylen for what he said at the restaurant. Unfortunately, Kylen was only summoned to give a statement. After that, he was not arrested or investigated further. He was still free to walk around wherever he liked. Including Romano’s Hospital.
Kylen opened the door to Laura’s room suddenly. Then he entered without permission.
“Sorry, Laura. We kept him downstairs, but he insisted on coming here,” Millie said. Laura understood that. People like Kylen never had a good conversation. She nodded and got up from her seat.
“What do you really want?” asked Laura as she stood in front of the man.
“You!” Kylen replied. He grabbed Laura’s waist until she fell onto his lap. Laura immediately rebelled, but Kylen could restrain her.
“Let go of me! Let go! Let go of me!” Laura rebelled. Kylen swiftly grabbed Laura’s jaw. He pulled her close and kissed her deeply on the lips. Laura pushed the man’s shoulders away, but her strength was no match. Kylen’s strength was so great that it was impossible for her to resist. After Laura calmed down, Kylen slowly released the kiss.
“How was my kiss, sweet, wasn’t it?” Laura hit Kylen’s shoulder quite hard. Then she pushed him again.
“Let go of me quickly, or I’ll-“
“Will what?” interrupted Kylen quickly. “You can’t resist fate. If you’re mine, Laura.”
“Don’t say nonsense. You’re not God. This is clearly an imposition. Because I would never want to be your mate.” Kylen tightened his embrace. So that Laura’s face was even closer to his.
“Remember my words, Laura. You are mine. Now and forever. This is not a notice, but it is a warning!”
Kylen snapped his fingers in the air. The bodyguards entered and stood in a row before them. Each bodyguard carried a briefcase filled with diamond jewelry, money, and gold bars. Millie was wide-eyed at the sight of these luxurious objects, while Laura chose to look away.
“I know your hospital needs a lot of money to buy new medical equipment. If you’re willing to be my wife. All that money, jewelry and gold will be yours. Not only will you be able to revive this old hospital, but you will also be able to live a life of wealth.” Laura smiled amusedly.
“Do you think money can buy love? Remember, you’re still dealing with me for making Carlos disappear. Better yet, tell me where you’re hiding him now?” Hearing the other man’s name mentioned by Laura, Kylen’s eyes immediately widened, full of anger. He grasped Laura by the neck and pulled her close.
“Once again, you mention that stupid man’s name. I won’t hesitate to gag you!” Kylen pushed Laura to the floor. Then she got up and walked away.
Laura was almost out of breath. She coughed for a long time. She could only glance weakly at Kylen’s departure. A vengeful look was in her eyes. Millie helped her up.
“Laura. Are you okay?” Millie asked. Laura nodded.
“I’m fine. Don’t worry.” Laura replied while occasionally staring at the direction Kylen had left. There was a hint of regret in letting that much money go.
“You don’t need to sacrifice yourself any more. This hospital is already very lucky to have you,” Millie said, as if she understood what Laura was thinking. The girl smiled.
“We’ll find another way, won’t we?”
“Of course.” Laura and Millie smiled. “There’s a charity event at the town hall tomorrow. I’ve signed up Romano’s Hospital to volunteer to handle the blood donation event. It can boost the hospital’s reputation and people’s trust, as well as free promotion.” Millie said excitedly.
“Thank you, Millie. I wouldn’t have known what to do if you weren’t here.” Millie smiled and nodded firmly as she walked away. Laura let out a heavy breath. She walked toward the window. Hoping to see Carlos again like yesterday. “What happened to you, Carlos? Did they hurt you?” Laura murmured. She could feel her tears flowing.
It was just as Millie had said yesterday. Romano’s Hospital was listed as one of the medical volunteers who would handle the blood donation event. The hospital’s ambulance arrived there exactly one hour before the event started. Laura and her colleagues immediately looked for a place that the committee had provided. However, it turned out that the space they got was very narrow. That’s because another hospital that was also volunteering there used part of their space.
“What the hell?” Millie grumbled to another hospital nurse, who was tidying up her equipment in their place.
“What?” the girl retorted guiltlessly.
“You’ve taken our place! Move all this equipment. Because this is our place.” Millie said firmly.
“Don’t joke around! You’re from Romano’s Hospital, aren’t you? What the hell have you got in your bag. A syringe. Hahaha.” They laughed at Millie.
“Watch your mouth! Or I’ll sew it shut.” Millie didn’t take it.
“It’s true. What can you be proud of in an old hospital that’s on the verge of bankruptcy!” Millie was getting angry. She would have punched the woman if Laura hadn’t come and held her back.
“That’s enough, Millie. We can talk this through.” Laura turned to face the nurse. “Please don’t take our place! I think we’ve all got enough space. So, move your equipment immediately. Because we want to use it too.”
“If we don’t want to. What will you do?” The woman challenged.
“You-“ Millie was about to cuss her out again, but was stopped by Laura.
“If you don’t want to. Then I’ll be forced to report you to the organizers of this charity event.”
“Just do it! You think they will hear your words. A poor hospital like yours can’t beat a big and famous hospital like Royal Medical.” Laura slapped the woman’s cheek quite hard. It surprised everyone who saw it. So was Millie.
“You can insult me, but I will never let you insult the hospital that saved your parents’ lives.” The woman could not reply. She just held her flushed cheeks.
“What has happened here? Why did you slap my staff?” Gabriella came in with an angry face.
“She started it herself. Took our place without permission. Greedy bastard!” Millie replied defensively.
“She’s not at fault. It’s obvious you can’t bring a full complement of medical equipment. Instead of this space being useless, we’d rather use it. Because I’m sure with our best equipment, many people will come to our place. So our space won’t be enough. It’s an excellent solution, isn’t it?”
“Why would you think that? We have the same rights here. Hurry up and move it now! Because we’re getting ready!” Laura was getting annoyed.
“I don’t want to. Just leave if you don’t want your place.”
“Move it immediately! Or I’ll kick him out!” threatened Laura.
“What’s been going on here?” Kylen’s voice instantly diverted everyone’s attention. Gabriella came up to Kylen with a pitiable face, and wrapped her arms around him. Meanwhile, Laura just looked away.
“That girl already slapped my staff, Kylen. She even wanted to kick my hospital out of this event.” Gabriella lied. Kylen didn’t really pay attention to her. Instead, he brushed off the girl’s hand. Then he walked over to Laura.
“I know what’s really going on. You don’t need to care about this place, Laura. Because your place is not here. Come with me, I’m sure you’ll like it.” Laura looked at Kylen’s helping hand. Then glanced at Gabriella, who looked jealous. She did not want to waste this opportunity to repay the girl’s arrogance earlier. Laura took Kylen’s hand and waltzed together past Gabriella, who could only stare at her in disbelief. Millie and Laura’s other staff didn’t want to be left behind. They waved at the Royal Medical staff with mocking faces. After being far away from the previous place. Laura released her hand.
“Where exactly do you want to take us?” Laura asked in a lofty tone. Kylen did not reply. He shifted his body position behind Laura, then turned Laura’s body to the left side.
“Look at that!” he said, pointing to an exclusive stand up ahead. Laura was stunned, as were Millie and the others.
