Till Cameras Do Us Apart

Jewel's POV.

I woke up with a slight pain in my head, only to find myself in the most beautiful room with the best settings I had ever seen.

A crystal chandelier hung right in the center of the ceiling. Warm golden lamps on both sides of the bed. Expensive paintings on the walls, and a clear glass door which revealed a luxurious, spotless bathroom.

The air smelled so richly filled with lavender and sandalwood, and a faint hum, like soft music played somewhere.

"Where is this?" I asked myself, hoping for an answer. I was sure I was upset before leaving Ken's house, but not a single thought of last night flashed through my mind.

I looked around, from the cute bed with silky sheets that felt smooth against my skin, to the glass floor that sparkled under my gaze, then to the light above me, glowing different attractive colors.

I was still lost in thought when a strong, sweet scent hit my nose. I turned and my eyes met that of a familiar masculine placing his both hands in his pocket, staring at me.

His white shorts and blue Polo matched perfectly with his spotless skin.

Wait what, Dexter? What the hell is he doing with me? I quickly rushed down from the bed and as soon I realized these weren't the cloth I put on yesterday, my cheeks flushed.

Did he change my clothes? Just the thought of that made my blood boil even more as I stepped closer.

"How are you feeling now? Hope you're getting better?" He smiled widely but I ignored his damn hotness and glared hard at him.

"Wait... you made me lose my job, called me all sorts of names, and now you brought me to your house? Are you after my life or what!" I yelled loudly in his face, already on the verge of losing my sanity.

Although I wasn't expecting a kindness but what he did next shocked me.

He took a breath, dropped his shoulder and released a wide calming smile. "Don't even think you worth it that much. I only tried to help after I saw you lying helplessly drunk in front of a bar" he winked and shoved out a file.

Slipping the brown file in between my two hands, he spoke.

"Dear Miss Jewel, since you now exist as one of the unluckiest people with no job, no family and not even a single friend, why don't you allow me make you useful?" he parted his lips to another annoying yet charming smile.

How could he be so inhuman? knowing fully well that Meeting him had already cost me a lot.

"Dexter you must be very mad! Whatever you're ..." I raged, but his next words shut me off.

“Fifty million. Fifty million dollars to act like my wife for some time. I mean considering your madness, I'm sure it will suit that of my family a lot" he snapped.

To be honest the amount of money he mentioned made me speechless for a while. It was so huge. Enough to rebuild my life, enough to free my father, and even destroy Kate and Ken in return.

A very tempting offer it is.

I lost myself for a while, thinking of what to do and just when I was still thinking, a middle aged woman stepped into the room with a smile.

"Son, your father said you just sent him the picture of your fiancee, please where is she?" She smiled so widely.

So soon?

Dexter stared blankly at me, maybe waiting for me to decide but one thing he didn't know was that I had already jumped into this game a long time ago. Although, one of us is going to kill the other before the end of this contract.

I smiled and moved closer to the woman. "Wait Dexter, is this your beautiful mom you've always told me about?" I asked, hugging the old woman. "I'm glad to finally meet you, ma'am. I’ve heard so much about you," I added with a bold smile.

Her jaw dropped in happiness as she hugged me back, while Dexter stood, staring at our drama.

"Dexter, I can’t believe you finally did it! Look at the beautiful, decent girl you got. I’m so happy for you," she said, patting my cheeks with a smile.

Suddenly, the door burst open, revealing some girls with cake and wrapped packages. Behind them were saxophonists playing soft jazz that immediately filled the room

I widened my eyes and looked at Dexter, whose jaw had dropped. From his look, I could tell he wasn’t expecting this either.

Soon, a huge number of people started arriving at the house. Most of them were the politicians, top business men, relatives, and prominent people.

It turned out Mrs Susana, Dexter's mother invited everyone. And somehow, The entire set up became a welcome party.

Cameras flashed everywhere, different Continental dishes here and there. The biggest gifts I had ever seen were being brought in by some of the most prominent guests, making me wonder if there were planning all these long ago.

Just when I thought I had enough surprises already, a loud scream echoed across the room, mostly from the girls. I turned, curious... and my jaw dropped.

"The Royals!" I gasped.

The same idols I used to scream for in front of my TV.

The same popular band that had become the country’s sweethearts... were here, walking in majestically, wearing their signature face masks.

I couldn't believe it when they hugged Dexter one after the other.

"And you finally proved to be a man. I can’t wait to see the girl you got...." they teased, but the moment their eyes landed on me, a huge smile plastered on their face.

"Nah don't tell me you have that all for yourself" Jives exclaimed.

"Jeez... Your wife is so beautiful" they kept on praising, making me blush helplessly.

After a little greetings and chat, it all dawned on me that Dexter was one of them, but then I didn't notice earlier because their videos and pictures were mostly on masks.

My heart fluttered and my stomach twisted into nervous knots as I realized I was marrying a popstar. Not just any popstar but a rich and famous one.

While I was still being waved by some thoughts, the Master of the ceremonies picked up his mic and drew everyone's attention.

“Well, I would love for our gorgeous, energetic bride-to-be to come and give us a vote of thanks.” he announced.

I stepped out, radiant, with Dexter holding my hand like the proud husband-to-be. everyone's eyes fixed on me, full of admiration.

“Uhhh… she looks so beautiful. Look at her long hair”

“Is that her real skin? Gosh, those curves!”

“They look so good together. God and goddess of beauty!”

The crowd kept whispering as we passed them till we reached to the front. In order to make it look more perfect, Dexter romantically wrapped his hands around me and gave me a quick kiss on the lips.

Alright this wasn't supposed to feel good right? But somehow, it sneaked its way into my chest and meddled softly with my heart.

I smiled it off and turned towards the audience.

“Thank you all for coming to my welcome party,” I began, smiling wider. “As you’ve chosen to share this joy with me, may happiness always fill your lives. And to my amazing fiancé, thank you for being the best man on earth. I love you, my heartbeat...”

Someone tapped me from behind, and when I turned, a decorated package with bold writing that said “Unwrap me now” was handed to me.

Dexter gave me a go-ahead look and slowly I curiously opened it and there was the shock of my life...

A car key, resting on a red velvet cloth with a note besides it. quickly, I flipped the paper open and read.

"From your father-in-law. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the ceremony because of some business meetings. But anyways, welcome to the Williams family, dear daughter. The Lamborghini outside is your welcome gift."

My hands trembled on the paper....What started like a mere game, now turned to be the most surprising moment of my life.
