The rest of the car ride after I had impulsively turned on the radio to avoid any kind of conversation was quiet

I had thought that Blake would try to initiate some kind of conversation but for some reason he did not and I was meant to be happy about that, after all, that was the reason I had turned on the radio but when he made no move to start any conversation, I felt empty.
