Chapter 12.Nanny for Rex.

CHAPTER 12.Nanny For Rex

>>>>>Nanny for Rex.

Lyra stood frozen in one place, her mouth wide open as Dominus's words echoed in her ears. The deep flush of embarrassment drained from her cheeks, and her head was downcast, unable to look any of the slaves in the eye. She still couldn't believe he picked Nia, a lowly slave, over her, who had tried to sacrifice herself despite knowing how much of an asshole his son was.

Her heart pounded in her chest, almost ripping her ribcage open. She had imagined herself in that role, caring for Rex, even with his attitude, just to get close to his father, but now it had all backfired.

Anger surged through her as her eyes narrowed at Akira. Her gaze was filled with a mix of envy and jealousy as she clenched her fists, nails digging into her palms. She hates everything about Akira at this moment.

Across the kitchen, Akira and Beth exchanged surprised glances. She couldn't believe that the prince really chose her.

Gasps rippled through the kitchen, the air felt tense. The other slaves paused in their tasks, eyes darting between the trio: Lyra, Nia, and Madam Estelle.

Whispers began to fill the room, a mix of shock and curiosity.

In the next moment, Lyra tore the strap of her apron from her neck and threw it on the floor before storming out of the kitchen in anger. The idea that Nia was picked over her still refused to settle in her mind.

After she left, Madam Estelle quickly followed her, trying to console her.

The whole kitchen erupted from whispers to loud talk.

“Congratulations!” Beth flashed Akira a small smile, nudging her arm. “You should be very happy about this. At least you won't have to deal with Madam Estelle or Lyra anymore.”

Akira forced a smile and nodded in agreement, but inside, her heart was still racing. She'd rather stay back with Madam Estelle and Lyra than have to be a nanny to one of the rudest pups she'd ever met. Flashbacks of the day he talked to Madam Estelle came rushing back and she still can't believe she was about to deal with that.

If he could talk to someone that age in such manners, what would he do to her?

And worse still, that's Dominus's pup with one of his sluts… she thought. Being a nanny for his pup would mean seeing him more, which she didn't want. Her cover would be blown.

Beth grabbed her by the arm, yanking her backward and forward. “Come on, Nia,” she urged playfully. “Smile! This is a big win for you. Anyone in here would kill to be in your position.”

“Didn't you see how Lyra was embarrassing herself over that? You need to cheer up. Everyone, including me, would kill to be in that position.”

Akira smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. She just didn’t want to have to explain to Beth how she was conflicted about what everyone thought was a good thing for her. She couldn't be around Dominus, and worse still, his arrogant son.

Later that night, everyone retired to their rooms, and this time Akira was able to get her mat before Thalia could. Once she got it, she dusted it off and settled down to rest trying her best to ignore Thalia's musty smell from last night. However, she was unable to sleep, her mind racing with thoughts of her new role as a nanny to the arrogant Rex. She wished he had picked Lyra and allowed her to enjoy what she was so invested in, unlike Akira, who hated the idea, not to mention the execution of it.

A couple of minutes later, the door creaked open, and Thalia and her little friends walked in.

As she entered, Thalia's eyes wandered around in search of an empty mat—not exactly an extra mat, but the one she had used last night. Narrowing her gaze, her eyes fell on her mat, huddled in the corner of the room and rumpled as if it weren’t in use anymore.

Thalia's eyes scanned the almost dark room, weaving through the mats until they landed on Akira, who laid on her own mat. Her expression hardened at once as she approached Akira.

Once she got closer, with a determined pout, she lunged at Akira, dragging one of her feet as she pulled her off the mat.

“Hey!... What are you doing?” Akira protested with a yell that woke almost everyone. She tried to pull back, but Thalia was relentless until she finally yanked her off her mat.

“Who told you that you could use that mat?” Thalia queried, and Akira scoffed in disbelief. She couldn't believe that just because Beth intervened yesterday and Thalia had left the mat for her, she now expected her to let it go permanently.

“Give it to me!” Thalia whined, her friends giggling in the background, enjoying the drama.

“It’s mine now!” She added.

Akira felt heat rise in her cheeks, a mix of embarrassment and annoyance. “Thalia, stop! You can’t just take it! Go grab your mat. This is mine, and I won't be sharing.” she stated in a frustrated voice.

Thalia laughed. “Oh, I see. You're now going to be a royal nanny and think you're better than any of us?”

There was a mischievous grin in her eyes as she continued, “Well, you’re not any better than any of us. We don’t have to go to sleep with the prince to land a nanny role.” Adrenaline surged through Akira’s body, her hands clenching into fists as the other slaves laughed at Thalia’s jokes.

“Come on, slut. At least you could have slept your way to Luna. Why just being a nanny?”

Laughter rippled through the room, further waking those who were still asleep.

With one final pull, Thalia managed to yank the mat completely from under Akira, sending her tumbling to the floor.

“Royal nanny? Come on, you'll be back scrubbing the floor by next week!”

The other girls burst into laughter, and Akira couldn’t help but feel the sting of humiliation. She lay on the bare floor, her hands balled into fists as she glared at Thalia.

Thalia sauntered over, a smug grin plastered on her face. “Look at you……”

“Get lost, Thalia,” Akira spat, cutting her off as she tried to push herself up. But Thalia stepped closer, leaning down to taunt her.

“Oh, what’s wrong? The royal nanny can’t handle a little fun?” She poked Akira’s shoulder with her foot, a mocking gesture that sent ripples of laughter through the crowd.

And that was it. Akira snapped. She pushed herself up and, in one movement, lunged at Thalia. Her fists connected hard with Thalia's nose, one of the self-defense techniques she had learned back at school. That sent Thalia stumbling backward.

The laughter turned to gasps as Thalia fell to the ground, shock written all over everyone’s face.

She brought her hands to her nose, blood beginning to trickle from it.

“B-b-b-blood,” she gasped. Akira stood over her, breathing heavily, a mix of adrenaline and surprise coursing through her. She hadn’t expected Thalia to fall from just one hit. With that, she hissed and walked away, grabbing her mat and going to another corner to sleep.

Later that night, some other slaves helped Thalia up, helping her lay her stinky mat for sleep. Akira, on the other hand, couldn't sleep a wink throughout the night, so she chose to take a little stroll.

Standing up, she rolled up her mat and kept it in the corner of the room. From what happened tonight, she was sure Thalia wouldn't pick on her again.
