Throughout the night, Celia could only cry, daydream, laugh blandly, and reminisce about the past times she had spent with Jason. But now, all that meant nothing.
Jason didn't want to wish for Celia anymore. He had already forgotten her. He had just discarded her as if she was rotten garbage whose presence was no longer expected by anyone. That was so fucking cruel.
Until finally, the hands of the clock continued to roll, until at 03:05 a.m, Celia was getting sleepy, and she fell asleep.
A few hours later, at 10:32 a.m, Celia woke up. She groaned and squinted as the hot sunlight touched her face. She groaned, before finally sitting up.
Really, what Celia didn't like was that if she woke up late like this, her head would definitely feel tingly. She let out a long sigh, she was dizzy. She looked at her reflection in the mirror, and what a mess she was.
Celia's eye bags were enlarged from crying too much last night. Her hair also looked disheveled. She finally stood up and decided to take a shower. After that, she was eager to touch food, her stomach was very hungry. Stepping into the kitchen, she was surprised to see Amy, her sister, busy drawing.
"Why aren't you at school?" Celia asked.
Amy looked up, the girl was staring at her sister in confusion, pausing her activity for a moment. "What's wrong with you? I'm not at school because today is a holiday, who's teaching there? Mosquitoes?" She shook her head in surprise, then started drawing again.
Thinking about her failed relationship with Jason made her forget even this. She sighed tiredly. "What are you doing?"
"Drawing mountains, doing schoolwork. Do you want to help me?"
"No!" Celia refused.
"Okay."
"Have you had breakfast?"
"Yes."
"Where did mom go? Why don't I see her?"
"She went to the store." Amy answered without looking back at Celia, busy with her own activities.
Hearing Amy's answer, Celia gasped. She was quite surprised. "Why is she at the store? Didn't she say she wanted to take some time off?"
"There's a cake order from Mr. Harrington, that's what she said this morning when I asked."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"How could I tell you if you were still sleeping?"
"You should wake me up first. It's getting late. I'm going to have breakfast first, then follow her to the store." Celia was about to step into the kitchen, but Amy's words stopped her in her tracks.
"You don't need to follow her."
Celia refocused her gaze on Amy, her forehead creasing in confusion. "So what?"
"I don't know, she said so. I just do what she says."
"She's alone, and you said there was an order from Mr. Harrington, she must be busy."
"As you wish. Go if you want, just leave me alone. I'm focusing on drawing."
Celia did not reply to Amy's words anymore, she chose to return to the kitchen to find food. After finishing filling her rumbling stomach, she planned to follow her mom to the bakery not far from home. Walking would not make her feel tired, but since she was too tired to walk, she chose to borrow Amy's bicycle.
It took five minutes to ride the bicycle, which was not too far from the house. Once there, Celia immediately parked her bike in front of the cake shop that her mom had established long ago. When she was born, the cake shop already existed. It wasn't very big, but because it was strategically located and a lot of people liked it, it had a lot of customers queuing up.
Actually, it wasn't just cakes that were sold, there were many kinds of bread too. The shop was managed by her parents, but since her dad had passed away, it was now only her mom who took care of the place, and she also helped out every day. Even Celia's handmade breads and cakes are always sold out. It tastes so good, no one can match it. Not to mention that the price is affordable among the community, making many customers willing to wait in line.
And that's why, when Amy said that mom was here, Celia was shocked and immediately hurriedly pulled out.
Celia didn't want her mom to be exhausted by herself.
"Mom!" Celia called out to the middle-aged woman who was busy in the shop's kitchen, baking and making bread dough by herself.
Mary, the name of Celia's mom, who saw her eldest daughter suddenly standing in the doorway of the kitchen, was quite surprised. Celia stomped over to her mom.
"Why didn't you tell me there was an order today?" Celia immediately approached Mary who was focused on beating the dough.
"You're sleeping, very soundly anyway. How could I wake you up?"
Celia snorted softly. "So, are you alone? You must be tired, right?"
"It's okay. Mr. Harrington's order is only twenty packs of boxes."
"Geez, that's a lot." Celia grumbled. Her lips pouted. She would not let her mom work alone. She shook her head. "Mr. Harrington ordered twenty packs of bread, right?"
"Yes."
"What else have you done?"
"Just finished the donuts."
"Let me help you." Celia found her apron hanging in the corner of the kitchen. Today must have been very busy, and she'd better do something to keep her brain from always focusing on Jason.
"You should wake me up. Do you have time to do it alone?" Celia looked at her mom's face again. "Not to mention that there are five kinds of bread in one packet, and you're still making donuts."
"The deadline is until the evening," Mary replied casually. But Celia didn't care about that.
"And what do you want me to make now?"
"Bread rolls seem like a good idea."
"Okay, I'll do it now." Celia began to pick up the equipment she needed. However, before that, she tied her hair first. "Mom, why did you take Mr. Harrington's order? You said you wanted to rest first." She said as she picked up some eggs.
"I already refused, but Mr. Harrington still wanted me to take his order. So, because I couldn't bear it, I agreed."
Celia returned to her place with all the ingredients and tools she had taken. She sat down and started working.
"Oh yeah, what time did you get home last night when you went out with Erin?" Mary asked, making Celia couldn't help but remember the events of last night.
Celia was silent, she didn't answer immediately. She was confused about what to say. She had forgotten a little about the incident at the hotel last night, but now she remembered it again. The pain hit her heart again.
"Celia?"
"Yes, what's up?" Celia looked up, staring at her mom's face. Her eyes blinked repeatedly.
"Why are you daydreaming? What's wrong? Do you have a problem?"
Celia smiled and said, "Nothing. What did you ask me earlier?"
Yes, it's better for now. Although Celia didn't want to lie to her mom, she had no other choice. She needed time to tell her everything that had happened. But, not now. She needed time, and her mom would know sooner or later. And she was looking for the right time.
"Where did you go last night with Erin?"
"We ate at a restaurant. It's been a while since we got together. I came home at midnight."
"Oh, I didn't see you come home. I was already asleep at that hour."
Celia just smiled in reply. Mary never scolded her, even though she sometimes came home at midnight when she went out. But, her mom always told her to be careful and take care of herself, to be vigilant. And she followed that advice. There was no set curfew for her. After all, she was not a child or an unstable child. She was a twenty-four-year-old young woman. And she was good at taking care of herself.
"Mom, let's go to the beach sometime. Take Amy too."
"You don't usually propose events like this. Is there something going on?"
Celia clicked her tongue. "Mom, I'm serious. It's been a long time since I went to the beach. How's that? It's all about refreshment, it's time to get out into the kitchen. Aren't you tired of being stuck in the same activity over and over again? It never hurts to go out and enjoy yourself once in a while."
"You're right. Okay, I agree. But not this soon, okay? We'll find the date together."
"Okay, I will help find the most suitable time," Celia said with great enthusiasm.
Celia was intentional, she would do anything to keep herself busy so that her mind wouldn't be focused on Jason. And hopefully, this way she could successfully forget him, the man who had destroyed and betrayed her love.
