Selene hurried to the council meeting; she was supposed to be meeting with the council today. No one had notified her about the meeting, and somehow, she knew that something was up.
As she hurried pass a trail of servants who all bowed in greetings, and some other lower ranking members of the Pack, with some of the guards following closely behind her.
But then, she overheard the maids gossiping, when they thought she was out of earshot.
“Ah, that’s the Luna,” one said, “I heard she tried to poison the new soon to be Luna.”
Another scoffed. “Haven’t you heard all she did in the past, I can’t believe I used to think she was nice, she is nothing but a devilish minded person.”
“I wonder why the Alpha won’t let her go yet, I hope they can finally kick her out, or she might endanger the Pack.” Yet another said, and others threw in like comments too.
Selene’s hands balled into fists, her nails digging into her palm, but she kept walking. She was not going to embarrass herself by asking them what they were talking about. She was already used to everyone gossiping and spreading lies about her, but the painful part was that none of them were sure of the rumors they were spreading, and yet they somehow made sure everything spread fast.
Selene swallowed the painful lump forming in her throat, and headed straight for the conference room, but when she got to the door, she paused. She didn’t know why she suddenly had a strange feeling that something terrible was going to happen, but she forced it out of her mind.
The door was opened, and as soon as she walked in, she realized that she had been right to feel that way. Her hands balled into fists, but after taking a deep breath, she walked into the room.
There, sitting on her own seat with the most innocent expression on her face, was Julia. And sitting beside her was Seth, his hand holding hers possessively over the chair hands. Those seats used to belong to the both of them, and he used to hold her hand that way during council meetings, but now……….
“What’s going on?” She voiced out, her voice hard with anguish. Why was Julia sitting on her own seat?
She didn’t miss the mocking expression on Julia’s face, which she quickly replaced with an innocent expression on her face when Seth gazed at her.
“What does it look like? We are having a council meeting.” He said, his thumb caressing Julia’s hand in a way that everyone was drawn to the continuous movement.
Selene’s heart slammed into her chest, and she felt a headache forming. “Why is your mate on my seat?” She was trying to remain calm, not trying to lose her temper in front of the entire Council, who remained silent in face of this insult hulled at her.
Seth looked at her as though she had lost her mind. “Your seat? I am the Alpha of this Pack, and I will determine who seats where ever. Julia is my mate, and she deserves a seat by my side.” His eyes were chilling cold, almost freezing her entire body.
Selene’s jaw clenched and she took a step closer, her anger brazing. “Half of this Pack belongs to me, and I am the Luna of this Pack. She is nothing but a mate, and until she is crowned Luna, she has no right to sit there. Now get out of my seat.” Her voice rose with the last words she said, and her eyes burned as her wolf came up front, sending the power wave throughout the room.
Seth mouth fell open, and he stared at her as though he was seeing a ghost. Everyone was gawking at her, with so many thoughts running through their mind. But one thing was for sure, they respected her now.
Julia noticing how the tables were turning, burst into sobs, drawing all attention back to her. “I just wanted to know how the meetings are conducted, I didn’t mean to be disrespectful.” She said through sobs, instantly arousing everyone’s sympathy. Yet again, Selene was the villain.
Seth took his time to console Julia, but when he looked at Selene, his eyes were breaming fire and brimstone. “You have to apologize to her, right now.” He said in rage.
Selene raised a brow, her heart slamming in her chest. “Why would I do that?” She was done being walked all over, and she demanded even the tiniest bit of respect from them.
Seth stood up, his jaw clenching and his fists clenching and unclenching. “You had no right to talk to her like that after you tried to kill her.”
“I didn’t………”
“And for your information, I and Julia would be having our mating ceremony tomorrow, after which she would take over the full duties of being the Luna, and you will be her assistant.” He said coldly.
Julia’s face lit up into a mocking smile left for only Selene to see. Her eyes hinting a message to her, that she was a nobody.
Selene’s heart tightened, and she felt her heart twist painfully at his words. He held her gaze, meaning every word he said, without a blink of an eye.
Selene tried to push away the sadness in her heart. This was for the best, she could finally be free from all these. She pushed her chest up and stared him down with a hint of mockery on her face.
“Ah, then I would congratulate you both now. She can have the position.” She then turned to Julia, “And you should really stop spreading rumors that I tried to kill you. You are not worth my time.”
Julia’s eyes darkened, she gritted her teeth and glared at Selene, but under the councils’ watching eyes, she could only hold back her anger.
Selene continued. “I officially announce that I am leaving this Pack, and I am leaving with my Pack.”
A deep silence settled over the entire room which had once been chaotic, and except for the sound of their breathing, nothing else was heard.
It was the council chief that spoke. “Luna Selene, am afraid that won’t be possible. The two Packs have been made one, and so cannot be broken apart. That is the same reason why you won’t be allowed to leave the Pack. For the peace and oneness of this Pack.”
Selene’s jaw dropped. “What?”
She caught the smug expression on Seth face and knew this was his doing. She turned back to him, furious. “My father gifted me the Bloodmoon Pack, I am their head and I demand to have them back.”
Seth leaned in gently, his eyes pinning hers in a battle of power. “Do you want to go against the entire council and the 7 clans?” He whispered to her, as though warning her to keep silent.
Strengthening his back, he spoke in a hard voice. “The decision is final, the two packs will not be severed, and Luna Selene would remain a member of this Pack, and a member of the council, but as second only to Luna Julia.”
That was when everything came crashing down on her. This had been her final hope, and now it has also been crashed down.
She didn’t know how she managed to walk out of that council meeting, but she was already panting hard, her tears blinding her vision as she walked unsteadily towards her room.
Just as she made to enter her, Dante, Seth’ Beta, came rushing towards her, fear evident in his eyes. “Luna Selene.” He called out to get her attention and get her to stop.
Selene felt entirely bitter, hearing someone call her Luna. She now detested that title, it was nothing but a bondage, and yet she was soon going to be named an assistant Luna, maybe the first in history.
Her eyes were cold when she looked at Dante, “What do you want?” She was too angry to remain calm, and she wanted nothing than to return to her room and cry herself to sleep.
Dante looked restless. “I am sorry Luna Selene, but there is someone here to see the Alpha.” He explained.
Selene’s eyes darkened. “Then go tell your Alpha.” She said and continued to work, but he rushed to stop her.
“Please, the Alpha is currently in a meeting, you have to come see him yourself.” Dante was scared shitless, making her more concerned as to who had the power to make Dante that scared.
“Let him wait for the Alpha,”
“Luna Selene, he is not someone who we can keep waiting.”
Selene turned to look at him slowly, her eyes narrowing as she stared at him. “Who?” Her voice barely a whisper.
“It’s the Demon Alpha.”
The name was like a slap to her face, and Selene’s eyes widened, and she felt a shudder run through her at the mention of that title. It was a title everyone dreaded, and the person who owned it, was worse than even the title could describe.
Not much people had seen him, but his reputation excided him. He was feared and loathed by all, and yet no one could stand up to him.
Selene followed Dante as he led her to the Alpha’s study where he was waiting for the Alpha, her heart pounding in her chest.
As his name implied, he was a hybrid….. wait no, a tribreed. He had a mix race which was rare. He was half werewolf, half vampire and yet had demon blood running through his veins. He was a combination of evil.
As she pushed open the office door, and came face to face with the drop-dead gorgeous man, she almost forgot the art of breathing. This was her first time seeing him in her entire life, or so she thought. But one thing she knew too well was that, he was an enemy, to the Pack and to herself, and the best thing to do to enemies like him, is run from them.
He turned to look at her, his presence commanding. His Midnight-black hair fell in tousled waves to his shoulders, framing a chiseled face, and his razor-sharp cheekbones and full, sinful lips that hint at secrets and seduction.
He smiled lazily at her, “Hello Selene, its nice to see you again.”
