I call Joy the next morning.

She arrives within the hour. Curious. Concerned.

"What is it, Brittany?"

"Theodore's magic. The protective light. What if it could purify the curse? Replace the wolf blood tears we can't find?"

Silence. Long. Thoughtful.

"That's unprecedented. Child magic is usually too weak."

"But Theodore's magic is different. Pure. Ancient."

Joy paces. ...
