Chapter 2: Meeting His Mate

*** Three Months Earlier ***

It's the night of the full moon. The moon had reached its epic. The entire residents of the city seem to be fast asleep except Jonathan Cage, the noble alpha of his clan, a few omegas from his clan and his daughter. He has invited a guest to discuss a crucial matter in the presence of his omega.

Long ago, werewolves used to be slaves to the moon and on the night of every full moon, they had to go through a period of excruciating pain, breaking bones repeatedly to take the form of a werewolf. To them, it's considered a curse. But now they have finally broken the curse of the moon, they no longer transform every full moon but now control their form.

"Welcome to my abode!" Jonathan announced, gesturing for his guest to come in.

"Thank you, alpha Cage for inviting me," said Jake Brown as he slightly bowed as an act of reverence to the noble alpha.

The bottler makes his way to Jake, ready to take his jacket.

"Thanks," Jake smiled, handing his jacket to the bottler for safekeeping.

As Jonathan led the way to the great hall, Jake was silently admiring the interiors of the mansion as he quietly followed. There are lots of ancient relics he thought were missing but hanging on the walls. The ground plan is luxurious. The mansion might look ancient but it got him wondering how much it cost to have such a mansion. 'This must have cost a fortune,' he thought to himself. 'I'm sure this mansion has so many rooms that will make me feel like am trapped in a maze, and the grand ballroom could easily fit an entire football stadium'.

The amount of gold and marble that adorned the mansion was perceived as rather excessive.

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by Jonathan Cage when he declared in a loud voice, "Jake, meet my daughter, Helen."

His dominant alpha voice startled Jake. For a moment, he stopped gazing around. He switched his gaze toward alpha Cage's daughter, beholding a damsel adorned in an amazing glittering white gown. The diamonds that adorned her gown cost a fortune.

A soft dazzling smile from her pushed Jake's cheeks backward. His smile was miserable as he continued to gaze at Helen's Viking gold hair, down to her pink sweet lips. Her pointed nose sat well on her pale face. Her glossy skin is angelic.

As Jake is lost staring and admiring her beauty, she makes her way to him. With a cute flirtatious smile, she shook hands with him, saying, "Nice to meet you..." her eyes widened like one lost with words.

Jake already understood, realizing he had failed to introduce himself. He helped her out with the words she was looking for. "Jake Brown," he said. "I'm Jake Brown."

"Nice to meet you, Jake Brown," she smiled again flirtatiously. As she tried taking her hand back, she perceived Jake was not going to let go as he was lost admiring her. "I can have my hand back now," she flashed a sly smile.

"Oh, sorry," Jake finally comes to his senses and immediately releases her hand. He didn't want to let go. Her palm is soft and could easily work magic on any man during caressing.

Jonathan introduced the omegas to Jake. They exchanged greetings as they all sat down to begin their meal and the conversation that had brought them all together.

Throughout his meal, Jake couldn't help but continue to stare in admiration at Helen. She will catch him staring and then break into a dazzling smile displaying her shiny teeth.

She too admires him. His dominant shoulders and chest are what easily turns her on without much kissing and caressing.

Although Jake was from the least clan, Helen never wanted to accept her father's request to be Jake's mate. His father was harsh on her before now trying to get her to accept mating with Jake to continue his bloodline.

Things changed after meeting Jake. She wasn't disappointed. His majestic walk and the way he carried himself made her rethink accepting her father's choice. He had a clean cut. His good looks made him irresistible. She must confess he is handsome from the depth of his eyes to the gentle expressions of his voice. He is handsome from his generous opinions to the touch of his hand upon hers.

"Now that we are here," said Jonathan. "I want you all to meet my choice of mate for my daughter."

Jonathan's announcement came as a surprise to the omegas of his clan present but it wasn't a surprise to Jake and Helen. Before now, they've been informed. Although Helen opposed seeing Jake changes everything.

The omegas stare at each other in disappointment. This has taken them unaware.

One of them couldn't help but rise in anger to dispute what his alpha said. "This can't be!" he gnawed, biting his bottom lips. "Your daughter is noble and our clan's Luna. You want to give her away to this low-class werewolf? You should have as well given her out to marry a human!"

His resentment was visible and appalling. Seems like he has forgotten he is talking to the alpha. Jake's clan are indeed esteemed low and many from the noble clan liken them similar to humans.

Helen's clan are the royals. From their clan, an alpha is elected to rule over other clans except the clandestine clan that has gone rogue and chose to be independent.

Jonathan's face looks mean and furious as he furrows his brows, casting a side glance at the omega. "Take back your words!" he growled.

"Forgive me, alpha Cage," he spoke again. Raising his hand toward Jake, he continued, "They are considered slaves and servants to other clans. How could you stoop low to choose him for your..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Jonathan moved at an accelerated speed toward him, gripping him by his throat to exercise dominance over him. He is furious with him. His eyes glowed red as he cast a steady gaze into the omegas eyes. The feeling of violence has seized the alpha that it became difficult for Helen to calm him down. He can't control his anger at the moment. All he could feel was taking on everything around him and ripping out the heart of the omega that challenged him.

"Father, let him go!" Helen yelled. She didn't want the night to be bloody. A look of disappointment filled her face.

"Not until he apologizes!" Jonathan gnawed, lifting the omega off the ground. He suspended him in the air. "What's it gonna be, omega?"

Jake feels embarrassed by the omega but that doesn't mean he wants him dead in the hands of his father-in-law to be. He prays in his heart for the omega to apologize. It's quite difficult for any alpha to spare wolves that challenge their authority.

"I am sorry," the omega barely squeezes out.

The rest of the omegas didn't want to interfere. They only watched in silence hoping the alpha spares him.

After a few seconds of contemplating, Jonathan tossed the omega away. He adjusts his fancy suit, turning toward Jake with a miserable fake smile. "Forgive my manners," he said. He turned to the omegas and declared, "Jake Brown and Helen Cage will be betrothed on the next full moon. Anyone who dares to challenge my decision will be dealt with."

They all stood still without saying a word. They watched in silence as he walked out from the great hall. His dominant footsteps echoed against the concrete walls of the great hall.

Helen emits a long-deep audible breath expressing relief. She walks up to Jake and apologizes for her father's display to ruin their meal.

"No need to apologize," he said. "I understand."

"I guess it's goodnight then," she said, lowering her head to avoid eye contact. She still feels embarrassed for the show her father put up.

"Yeah," he nods. "Good night my Luna. See you around."

After Helen walked out from the great hall, Jake picked up his phone and was about to leave when the omega that nearly lost his life approached him. His face tightened. "You pathetic little wolf, you better watch your back."

He isn't just an omega but a childhood friend of his alpha. He had hoped that Jonathan would betroth his daughter to his son.

Jake couldn't help but glared at him. He's still pissed at him for insulting him and his clan. "You are in my way, Mr. Mike," he said, shoving past him.

Mike tilted back on his heels and watched as he walked out but he didn't fail to warn him once more, "You better watch your back!"
