Chapter Claimed Or Consumed

I never felt more terrified in my life as the green-eyed wolf claimed me as his mate. I knew what that meant in the werewolf community and I wasn't about to let anyone mark me as their property in a pack I knew nothing about.

"Who are you?" I demanded.

"Your mate," he repeated, wrapping an arm around my waist. His grip was tight, and his muscular arms and hairy chest made it impossible for me to break free.

I pushed him back roughly, creating some distance between us.

The noise of the crowd grew louder and I found myself surrounded by the members of the pack.

"What's happening?" I asked, feeling utterly confused and scared.

"You're new here, aren't you?" the green-eyed guy said, looking me up and down with his piercing green glowing eyes. "I am Dixis, the lord of this place and the alpha of all wildling wolves. No one rejects me. Anyone who does becomes a slave to all."

I turned to look in the direction where my brother Kayden had gone, but he was nowhere close. I turned back to Dixis, who now fold his hand. The crowd began to chant in agreement, urging Dixis on.

I couldn't believe what was happening. I had wandered into the wrong place at the wrong time, and now I was trapped with no way out. "Kayden!" I called out, hoping that my brother would hear me.

Dixis stepped forward, and I could feel his hot breath on my neck. "I know Kayden, the Witherfield, innit? He's down the line in the rating. Now, my dear, it's time for you to accept your place as my mate," he said, slipping an arm around my waist. "Or you die."

I struggled, but it was no use. I was held from behind and I couldn't break free. "Let me go!" I yelled, hoping that someone would come to my rescue.

"Who's the beauty with you?" she asked as she knelt before Kayden and unzipped his fly.

"My… huh... " Kayden stuttered. "Does it matter? We have to be quick. She's new here and I can't let her wander."

"Is she interested in the pack?" she asked and now held on to Kayden's manhood, working her hands on it to and fro.

"She… Ahh!!!" Kayden was shushed when he suddenly felt a cold and wet sensation.

Disrupting the bliss, the sound came and he heard his name amid the shots.

Kayden pushed the lady away and zipped up. He was doing his belt as he rushed out.

Things were starting to look bleak for me, as I stood there, lost and unsure of what to do next. But then, a sudden commotion at the edge of the crowd caught my attention. A tall figure pushed his way through, commanding everyone's attention. It was Kayden, my brother.

"Get away from her, Dixis," he growled, his eyes flashing with anger and determination.

I turned to face him, torn between berating him for leaving me and being relieved that he had returned at such a crucial time. Despite my fear, I couldn't help but notice his perfectly muscled body, the strength in his limbs, and the determination in his gaze.

Dixis laughed, seemingly unfazed by Kayden's arrival. "And who are you to challenge me, Kayden?" he taunted, taking slow steps towards my brother, his eyes locked on him. Kayden, in response, lowered his head, a sign of respect and submission.

I understood the code they were following. In the face of anger and dominance, one never looks into the eyes of the alpha. But Kayden had already broken one rule, and I hoped that he would continue to defy expectations for my sake. I watched with bated breath, hopeful for what was to come.

"I see," Dixis sneered. "Someone is finally resisting. Let's settle this with a fire tussle, Kayden."

Lauren: A fire tussle? What on earth is that?

As I watched, logs were set ablaze, fuel added, and a green liquid was poured over the flames, casting an eerie glow upon the area, just as Dixis, the twisted mind behind this game, had intended.

The crowd chanted, their voices in favor of Dixis, the apparent lord of the place.

"Dixis!"

I was still held by two men, unable to do anything except watch helplessly. My gaze fixed on Kayden, and I refused to blink, for fear that tears would escape. Regret washed over me, wishing I had stayed behind, but it was too late now.

Dixis and Kayden stood, staring each other down with rage and determination. This confrontation wasn't simply physical; it was a clash of wills, a battle for dominance and to protect our desires.

"Listen," Dixis shouted above the crowd's chant. "If you lose, she becomes mine," he declared, his voice oozing with entitlement.

"What if you lose?" Kayden retorted, his voice unwavering.

Dixis laughed cruelly. "That's not an option. We both know you can't beat me," he sneered confidently, certain of his victory.

But then, to my surprise, it was my turn to speak. I mustered up all the courage I had and faced Dixis and Kayden with determination in my eyes.

"What if you lose?" I asked, my voice loud and unwavering, catching them off guard.

Silence fell upon the arena as they turned to face me, their attention now focused solely on me. In that moment, I saw a glimpse of hope in both of their eyes.

Kayden saw my courage and absorbed it, refusing to back down now. And as for me, I was thinking about winning, refusing to accept defeat.

"I'll relinquish the alpha dominance," Dixis responded, a hint of uncertainty in his voice. "But you'll join my bedwarming maidens tonight if Kayden loses," he added, his intention to make me his mate clear.

At the mention of Dixis claiming me, anger surged through me. I had experienced enough manipulation and abuse from Orix, and I refused to let history repeat itself with Dixis.

Kayden and Dixis took their positions, locking hands, their muscles tensed and ready to unleash their primal strength in this ultimate battle.

With a flash of fangs and a swipe of claws, the confrontation began. The scent of blood and sweat filled the air as they lunged at each other, each displaying their raw power.

Dixis, the alpha, fought with an air of authority, desperate to maintain his status among the pack. Failure would cast doubt on his leadership and jeopardize the future of his pack.

On the other side, Kayden fought with a fervent will, fueled by his desire to protect my honor and that of the Witherfield pack. He had to prove himself, to defend our desires against his ruthless opponent.

Kayden managed to grab Dixis by the arm, allowing him to push further. When Dixis motioned to cut him with his claws, Kayden allowed it, but retaliated fiercely, leaving four deep gashes across Dixis' chest. It was a small triumph, a taste of defiance against the oppressive alpha.

Their battle continued, a push and pull of strength, both determined to avoid being pushed into the fire. And as I watched, hope started to bloom within me, fueled by Kayden's unwavering determination.

I knew that our fate hung in the balance, that the outcome of this fight would determine our future. But I also knew that we were fighting not just for ourselves but for the freedom to choose our own paths and protect our desires.

Together, we would face this challenge head-on, ready to fight until the very end. And no matter the outcome, we would do so with unwavering courage and the belief that love and freedom would prevail.

As the fight reached its climax, I could feel my heart racing, my breath coming in short gasps. Sweat trickled down my brow, mingling with the dirt and grime, the blood from Kayden's wounded chest. The heat of the fire nearby only intensified the tension in the air.

In the midst of the chaotic combat, a moment of stillness overcame me as I caught a glimpse of Kayden's tear-filled eyes. I could see the yearning for freedom from the binding mating, the desperation to protect me. It broke my heart to see him like this, to witness the pain etched on his face.

I lowered my head, my own defeat settling over me like a heavy cloak. But then something happened. It was as if a switch had been flipped inside Kayden. A newfound determination radiated from him, fueling his every movement. He growled with a thunderous roar, summoning every ounce of strength he had left, pushing back against Dixis with unwavering resolve.

"Is this all you've got, Dixis?" Kayden's voice rang out, filled with defiance. "I will not let my sister become a pawn in your game!"

Dixis snarled, his face contorted with anger and frustration as he struggled against Kayden's relentless force. Beads of sweat trickled down his face, his growls matching Kayden's intensity. "You think you can challenge me? You're nothing, Kayden. Nothing but a misguided fool. You will pay with your life."

But despite Dixis's threats, it was clear that he was losing control. He staggered backwards, his feet faltering, and before he knew it, he was stumbling toward the fire. His baggy pants caught fire, the flames greedily licking at his body.

In that frozen moment, as Dixis hurtled uncontrollably toward the raging fire, his green eyes mirrored a mix of shock and defiance. The crackling flames consumed him, devouring his once majestic presence. A hush fell over the crowd, the silence broken only by a cry of astonishment. I raised my head, my heart pounding, and locked eyes with Kayden in the middle of the chaos.

He stood there, amidst the whispering crowd, victorious and unyielding. And in that moment, I couldn't contain my joy. I ran toward him, a surge of laughter bubbling up from within me. Without hesitation, I wrapped my arms around him, my body pressed against his, feeling the relief and happiness wash over me.

"You did it, Kayden," I whispered, my voice filled with gratitude. I couldn't help but notice the intense way he looked at me, his gaze lingering on my face. But my thoughts quickly shifted to the crowd around us.

"Kayden!" they chanted, their voices affirming his new position as the alpha. I stood by his side, basking in the euphoria of the moment, still holding that uncertain place of being both his sister and… something more. I couldn't quite put it into words, but I knew there was a connection there that went beyond mere siblings. Yet, it felt absurd to acknowledge those feelings, especially when considering our complicated situation.

Looking out at the crowd, I could see Dixis in the distance, his eyes fixed on us. His intentions were clear – he wanted me and he intended to kill Kayden. It was then that Kayden decided we had to leave.

"We have to go now," he said firmly, a hint of concern in his voice.

***

"He will only rule as the alpha if he remains alive. Kill him, and bring the girl to me. I've marked her as my mate," Dixis commanded his faithful followers, setting our course and solidifying his position as the new alpha.
