Edna pov
"Good morning dad." I greeted excitedly as I stepped out of my room. I have not been in a good chatty mood for a while now and today I decided to change that and just accept whatever happens. My dad was also happy to see me looking happy.
"Are you going somewhere he asked?" I smiled and shook my head. He didn't believe me.
"I'm a serious dad, I'm not going anywhere." My dad was finding it hard to trust what I said because I was dressed like someone going somewhere.
"So you are dressed like this just to stay home?" My dad aided me and I nodded my head. It was time for breakfast so we both headed to the dining area.
I sat down and reserved the seat beside me for Amber.
"Heard she moved into your room." My dad said to me and we both started laughing. Amber joined us for dinner and soon the other family joined. I know how they can be so I decided not to change my mood to make them win, I have to keep pretending like I'm excited so they find me.
"Edna, you look beautiful." Aunt Erica complimented the dress, I smiled at her as I was sipping my glass of water. She sure knows how to give the right compliments.
The other family members seated in the dining room said nothing, they just focused on their food.
"Aaron is coming back today." One of them said, I turned to look at my dad when I heard what she said because I didn't know they had other family members that were not present.
"Aaron is her son, our cousin." Amber whispered to me. I was surprised because I didn't know my dad's sister had a grown up son. He grew up in another country.
I let out a soft smile when I heard what Amber said. I didn't know how to feel because he's not someone I have met before, I don't know the kind of person he is.
"Don't think highly of him, he's a fool." Amber whispered again, this time it was a little louder and everyone on the dinning heard her. "Amber." I called her attention and she stopped talking.
They were all staring at her like they could rip her skin off.
"Good news, you want a celebration? Let the maids start preparing." Alpha Baron said to her, she nodded her head in agreement to what he said, from the look on her face you could tell she was very excited to receive her son again, I wonder why he was taken away in the first place.
If he left since he was younger Amber is not supposed to know him.
"I can't wait to see him." His mom said again. Aunt Erica rolled her eyes, and everyone on the dinning was quiet, I could tell something was off, no one looked excited even his dad (Alpha Baron brother). They all stayed quiet, only my dad and the only thing he talked about was the celebration.
Their expressions made me curious to know the kind of person Aaron is and why they don't look happy to hear that he's coming back.
"Edna, I need your help with the preparations." I was wondering why she would need my help when the maids are everywhere and they would gladly do it.
"Why do you have a long face? If you're not going to help me, it's fine." She concluded without waiting to hear what I had to say.
"I am fine with helping you." I said to her trying to stop the narrative she was trying to push. Everyone at the dinning stayed quiet until we were done eating. After eating I headed to the sitting room and sat on the couch, my dad was on a phone call.
After his phone call he walked towards where I was sitting and sat on the couch. "I have something to tell you." I was wondering what it is because we had a conversation earlier and he didn't say anything different to me.
I sat properly and prepared myself to hear what he had to tell me.
"I just got off the phone with an old friend." Alpha Baron looked like he was struggling to tell me what the phone call was about. I was patiently waiting to hear what he has to say but something tells me it's not what I would like to hear.
Alpha Baron cleared his throat several times and was still not saying anything to me.
"Dad." I called him because I was curious to know what it is that's so hard for him to say.
"I just got a call from an old friend who is interested in getting her son married to you." My heart skipped a beat when I heard what my dad said. I felt numb all of a sudden, I can't believe it's becoming reality. I am really going to get married to a man and leave the family that treated me well.
"Edna." I snapped out of my thoughts immediately. "I have been calling you." My dad said to me, I was in deep thought so I didn't hear him call my name.
"I know Grandma said she wants you to get married, but I'm not doing this because of what she said, I'm doing this because this family is good and I want you to be happy wherever you settle." Listening to what my dad said made me feel better, he was trying to put in good words so that I will not be scared about moving into the new family house.
I was curious to know the family and why they are interested in me. A lot of families have been contacting my dad but he has refused to accept and had just one phone call he has decided to hand my hands to them. I realized he must really trust them for him to accept.
"It's fine dad, I know you will only get the best for me." I said to him with a smile on my face. My dad smiled back and just when we were about to continue talking my aunt called my name.
I stood up and excised myself immediately. When I got to where she was standing she didn't say anything to me, I just knew from the moment she said I would join her that she was only looking for a way to stress me out.
"I'm here aunt." I said to her in case she wasn't seeing me.
"I'm not blind Edna." She replied to me almost immediately and continued speaking to the maids.
"Let's go, Edna." I didn't know we were going out so I was surprised to hear her say that.
While we were on our way out aunt Erica returned home from an important meeting. My eyes met with hers.
"Be careful out there." Aunt Erica whispered to me and we both laughed. She turned to look at both of us then angrily hopped into the car, I joined her immediately.
While we were on our way to where she was headed we didn't say anything to me, she kept making phone calls and announcing to everyone that her son is returning home. What bothered me the most was how no one in the family cared about the boy's return except her, she's the only one excited about it.
When we finally arrived at our destination. I stepped out of the car and looked around the mall, the mark written on it made me know it belonged to the family.
"Alpha Baron owns quite a lot." I muttered as we both walked In, they bowed their heads as we walked in. I was not familiar with such gestures so I lowered my head too.
"Don't do that again." My aunt said if we both continued walking, she was on another phone call. I couldn't say anything to her.
We got to a place and she walked in but I was stopped, she was on the phone so I just stood there, even though I tried explaining to them they didn't listen to me.
I felt angry and embarrassed at the same time. There was a chair there so I sat down while waiting for her to notice I was no longer with her.
Used the opportunity to look around the mall and I couldn't stop admiring it. While I was admiring the mall aesthetics I sighted my aunt running out.
"Edna." She called out my name looking worried. "Why are you out here?" She asked me angrily then I looked at the security that stopped me from going in.
"How dare you stop Alpha Baron's daughter from entering the VIP center!" My aunt shouted angrily.
The we're shocked to hear that I was telling the truth all along.
