CHAPTER 20

  Edna pov

The news about a particular pack seeking my hand for their son was rubbing on me in a bad way, I was not expecting it to bother me this much.

I stood up from the couch and took a walk around the pack. While taking a walk I looked around the house and it still feels like a dream that I'm living this type of life that I never imagined I would live. Each time I wake up in the house I keep remembering the way Luna , Becky and Alpha Darrel kicked me out of the pack and they didn't care about what happened to me.

"I hope I never meet them again." I muttered to myself. My curiosity was getting the best of me as I thought about the family that wants me and if they will cherish me the way I am cherished here.

"What are you doing here? I have been searching the whole place for you." Amber said to me the moment she sighted me by the pool area. She was walking towards me with a maid by her side. I signaled the maid to return back while Amber kept walking up to me.

"I came here to clear my head." I said to her and sat down. Amber sat beside me and rested her head on my chest like a cute baby. She was acting like I will be leaving tomorrow.

"I'm gonna miss you." She said to me with a shaky voice, I could tell she was struggling not to cry. Mrs Arthur confirmed that Amber has been the best version of herself since I got here, most times she would isolate herself from the whole family, but ever since I came she has changed a lot.

"Me too." I said to her and patted her head. I know it won't be easy for her when I'm away, she will find it really hard to socialize but I really hope she is able to be herself in my absence.

"You know I was thinking of telling daddy something." She sat up and said to me excitedly, I was curious to know what she wanted to talk about because she looked so excited while telling me.

  "What is it?" I asked.

"I'm thinking of telling daddy about changing my environment." My smile slowly faded the moment I heard what she said, I don't know why she came up with such an idea but I know that It was a very bad idea to come up with and the fact that dad will not like to hear her tell him something like that.

"Amber, what are you talking about? You know that's absolutely impossible." Amber turned to look at me when she heard what I said, it looked like she was trying to escape from the pack and go far away, but that is not the best way because dad will be unhappy to hear her tell him this.

"No, I made up my mind last night, I want to go to school, I'm tired of being home schooled, I want to make new friends and change the environment at the same time." Hearing everything she said sounded right, because she was clearly struggling living alone in the pack, especially when there is only her as the little child in here.

She looked like her kind was really made up, and speaking to me made her sure that she was craving a different lifestyle the whole time.

"I understand you feel lonely sometimes but…"

"You don't have to worry about me, I'll be fine." She interrupted me. I kept quiet and patted her head softly. She was just too cute, I can't believe we would be going our separate ways soon.

  *******

It was getting dark and already time for dinner. I headed to the winning with Amber by my side, we suddenly became even more close than we used to be.

Everyone was seated at the dinning except Aaron. I looked at the face of everyone in the sitting room and the atmosphere was kind of tense. I know my dad will not start eating until Aaron joins us.

"Mom, what are you doing here?" My dad asked Grandma as she was heading towards the dinning. I just knew the night would be a whole drama again.

Aaron's mom held Grandma and helped her sit down. Apparently Aaron's mom went to fetch Grandma to join us so that no one will speak to Aaron anyhow including his dad.

"I felt the need to be here tonight. Where is my grandson, he returned and no one cared to tell me? Not even you." She said looking at my dad. Everyone was quiet, no one had an excuse to give.

A maid was ordered to go fetch Aaron immediately. While the maid was on her way there, everyone in the dining room remained mute including Erica.

The wait was becoming annoying when there was no trace of Aaron, they kept sighing making it obvious that it was not their intention to wait for Aaron.

After a while Aaron reluctantly walked down the stairs and joined us for dinner.

"Look at my prodigal grandson, come give Grandma a hug." Aaron looked like he was embarrassed, he couldn't even stand up from where he was seated.

He Walked closer to her and hugged her with a smile on his face, she was the first one to welcome him warmly. And for the first time since he returned I saw him smile. "Didn't know he smiles." I whispered to Amber and we both laughed.

There was a cold silence at the dinning as everyone ate. Aaron's dad was the most upset person and he couldn't hold it in, he didn't raise his head to look at his mom and talk more of acknowledging his son's presence.

What happened back then must have really hurt him for him to dislike his son this much.

When we were all done eating Aaron's dad was the first to excuse himself and Aaron was not moved by his dad's action, they were behaving like total strangers.

"When is this going to end?" Grandma asked and immediately Aaron's dad halted. They were all shocked to hear what she said because she's been having confusion in thinking so they were surprised she still remembers Aaron and his dad are not on good terms.

My dad opened his eyes wider than normal. Aaron's mom stood up immediately to help her get up. Grandma turned to look at her son, anyone could easily tell that she was tired of the misunderstanding that has refused to end after so many years.

"Mom, what do you mean?" My dad asked, trying to confirm he heard her clearly.

"You are always the first person to stand up while the whole family is eating." She scolded Aaron's dad. We realized she was talking about something else and not what we imagined it to be.

Everyone was relieved to hear her reply. Aaron's mom helped her back to her room when she was done scolding her son.

"How do you cope with his temperament?" Grandma asked Aaron's mom as she was sitting on the bed. As days passed by she was getting weaker, it was getting too bad that she couldn't sit for too long again.

"I know how to calm him." Aaron's mom said with a smile and excused Grandma so she could sleep. The moment Aaron's mom stepped out of the room she realized she had to face reality again. This time she was fed up with everything and ready to risk it all.

She angrily headed back to the room and slammed the door.

"Where are your manners, woman?" Her husband asked her angrily.

Aaron's mom sat on the bed angrily. "What else do you want him to do? What else should I do to make you forgive him?" She asked her husband angrily.

"I need him to get out of my life and never return." Aaron's dad replied angrily. His wife was shocked to hear what he said, she never imagined that things would end up getting this bad, at first she thought he was just upset and the anger won't be for too long until now that she has seen that things can never go back to normal.

"You don't mean it right?" She asked curiously.
