CHAPTER 22

  Alpha Darrel pov

"Alpha Darrell." I heard a loud voice call my name with a light knock. I rubbed my eyes tiredly as I was trying to get up from the bed.

"Who could it be?" I asked myself as I walked closer to the door and opened it. "Albert." I called out looking surprised to see him in my room so early in the morning.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him as I headed back to the bed.

"Are you seriously asking me that? You might want to check the time and today's date." I was getting confused, I can't remember having any plan today, why on earth is he making it seem like there is something special going on today.

I picked my phone to check my week schedule.

"Oh shit." I cussed the moment I checked what was going on today. I stood up from the bed and rushed to the bathroom. Albert excused me immediately.

"How did I forget such an important meeting? He's going to be expecting me soon." I muttered as I was taking my bath. When I was done bathing I rushed out of the bathroom.

"Darrel." She rushed out of the room immediately.

"Fuck mum, I have told you to always knock. "I'm sorry." She apologized from outside the room.

I dressed up fast and when I was done she walked into the room.

"How did you forget such a day? What do you expect him to think of you? He might be my friend but he loves his daughter very dearly." My mom scolded me as I was trying to fix my tie the right way.

"Mom can't you see I'm struggling here?" I asked her angrily so that she can stop talking because the noise was beginning to annoy me. She kept quiet when she saw the tone I used to speak to her.

"I'm done now." I said angrily and walked out of the room. What annoys me the most is that she treats me like a child and tends to forget I'm now the Alpha of the pack and I have a lot of responsibility attached to my position as the Alpha.

My mom and I are supposed to meet with Alpha Baron and conclude the marriage talks so that by next week everything will go smoothly and he was also curious to see me and know who is getting married to his daughter because it's only my mom he's familiar with.

"You are so unbelievable." My mom said to me and we both headed out of the house with Albert joining us. While we were on our way there I was very nervous because I don't know what he's like when it comes to his kids and my mom has been saying too many things on how overprotective of his kids he is.

"Are you nervous?" My mom asked and stretched her hand to hold mine, for the first time in a while I felt like a baby again and my mom was being caring about how I feel.

I nodded my head trying to tell her that I was really nervous, she let out a soft smile and caressed my hands trying to make me feel better.

"Alpha Baron is my friend m, I promise he's not a hard man." My mom said to me trying to confirm me and make me less nervous. I was also curious to know why we are meeting with him and not his daughter, till now I'm yet to see the fact of the woman I'm getting married to.

"Did he tell you why we are meeting with him and not his daughter?" I asked my mom curiously. She turned to look at me, she was obviously also curious to know why but she didn't want to be too forward with Alpha Baron.

"He said nothing about his daughter, he's more curious to know who his daughter will he spending the rest of her life with." My mom explained to me. I was getting better hearing everything mom said to he. For the first time in a while she answered my question calmly.

We became quiet as the driver increased the car speed. I looked outside through the window trying to catch my breath and be a lot more confident because where we are headed I would need a lot of confidence to face him.

"Are we not supposed to go with a gift?" I asked my mom all of a sudden. It was such a short notice and I had nothing planned out yet. My mom stared at me for a while and started laughing.

"What would you have us do now?" She asked, feeling unconcerned about what I just said to her, which is very unlike her. She would never visit Alpha Baron without a gift.

"Albert, we have to get something from the store nearby." I said to Albert.

"You don't trust me, because if you do you would very well know that I have sorted that out already." I was relieved to hear what my mom said because I know that it's very unlike her to not have it sorted.

The rest of the journey was pleasant to me because I had nothing to worry about anymore. I just waited till we got to our destinations.

When we got to the restaurant where we will be meeting with him, my mum stepped out of the car and I followed behind. I was really confused about the meeting because it doesn't make sense how we're meeting her father and we are not meeting with the girl I'm getting married to.

We both walked into the restaurant while Albert waited in the car. The moment we got in, a lady approached us with a smile on her face. "Welcome Alpha Darrel, please follow me." She said to me, my mom felt offended because her presence was not noticed. She rolled her eyes as we both followed the young lady's lead.

We got to the reserved table and Alpha Baron was already seated there.

Alpha Baron sighted us and let out a soft smile. I can't believe we kept him waiting, first impressions are supposed to matter a lot and now I wonder what he'll think of me for keeping him waiting on the first day.

"Welcome Becky." Alpha Baron said and hugged my mom. They hugged like friends just as she said. I sat on the couch and crossed my legs trying not to ruin the little impression that's left for me to offer.

"Good Day King Baron." I greeted and stretched my hand for a hand shake. Alpha Baron looked very nice, he was the total opposite of what I was expecting him to be, he was a lot friendlier and also call, he kept smiling while I was talking.

"Good to finally meet you Alpha Darrel." He said to me and picked his glass of wine.

"I can see you still have the same taste when it comes to your wine." My mom said to him, I was trying not to act out of character because hearing my mom speak to him like that made me remember what I heard in the pack when I was younger.

Each time I see her interacting with men that's the first thing that comes to my mind.

"You still remember that I love white wine, that's still my favorite." He said in a friendly way as they both laughed. It suddenly started feeling like a reunion fit the both of them had not what we are here for.

"Why did you pick the interest in getting your son married to my daughter?" Alpha Baron asked my mom. They finally started talking about the reason we were in a restaurant.

My mom explained everything to him and how she wants to keep the good relationship between both packs. My mom's words were so convincing. I had nothing much to say because my mom kept answering the questions and he didn't bother because he's very aware of her characters and how she can be sometimes.

"I'm happy you are interested, Edna is special to me.." The name rang a bell again. My mom looked shocked to hear her name.

"Is her name Edna?" My mom ached with a disgust look on her face, I could tell she was not pleased to hear the girl's name was Edna.

"Yes, do you have a problem with that?" Alpha Baron asked and there was a sudden silence. I kept having a certain type of feeling that it might be the sane Edna because the Edna in question was adopted and she was adopted the same time Edna was chased from the pack.

"Nothing, I just don't like the name." My mom replied and sipped her wine, she was still bothered by the name.

"What if we're talking about the same person?" I asked myself and turned to look at my mom who seemed lost in thought
