CHAPTER 24

  Writer's pov

It was getting dark and almost time for dinner, Edna still couldn't get over the news of being part of the family register, she never knew Alpha Baron would go so far to claim her. She stood up and headed to the drawer where she had the last thing that belonged to her mom.

It was a bracelet that her mom gave to her when she was little, she never knew that a day would come when she would live so happily without thinking too much about her bad luck ruining things. She still had one photo of herself and her mom.

Edna has been avoiding the picture because she knows how hurt it makes her feel each time she sees it.

"I miss you so much mom." Edna mumbled while looking at the picture as tears welled down her eyes. She still found it hard to believe that things are going well for her because she has always had to fight her way to get everything she needs and now everything is just going well for her.

When she was done looking at it she dropped the picture back into her drawer and wiped her tears. She's been in a very emotional stage since she heard what her father told her.

Edna suddenly remembered how the family can sometimes be towards her, she felt most of them will not be happy to hear what her dad will tell them during dinner.

Edna decided not to bother herself too much with what would happen during dinner, she was too excited about being on the family register so what the family thinks has nothing to do with her.

She stood up from the bed and headed to the bathroom to take her night shower so that she can head down for dinner the moment she's called.

When she was done bathing she stepped out of the bathroom and dressed up for dinner. While she was dressing she stood in front of the mirror and stared at her face for a while.

She still couldn't believe the life she is now living as the daughter of Alpha Baron, one of the greatest Alpha's across the packs.

When she was done staring at herself she stepped out of the room and headed downstairs, she made sure to wear one of her best night dresses.

The moment she got to the dinning all the members of the family were already at the dinning, she realized she was the only one left. Edna was pleased to see the whole family seated at the dinning again, unlike last night when they all ditched dinner.

She sat down with a bright smile on her face, while she was seated she noticed that the sighs were too much, she didn't want that to bother her so she pretended like she was okay with all the signs going on.

Edna didn't say anything, she just started eating. She looked at her dad and his smile was enough for her.

"Congratulations on joining the family register." Edna was surprised to hear them say it, Edna was hoping her dad would tell them when she's there but hearing them say it when She just got there made her feel some type of way.

"Thank you." She replied to them, and continued eating her food, she noticed her dad was not happy, the look on his face made her know.

"Why do you…." Alpha Baron shut them up immediately, he was wondering why they cannot just accept her without trying to talk down on her, he could already tell what his brother was planning to say which is why he slammed his hand on the dining table.

"Where are your morals?" Alpha Baron asked the angrily and all of them became mute, he has already had enough of the drama they always bring each time he does anything for his daughter. Edna was happy to see her dad standing up for her, it was obvious that he was very pissed.

"Alpha Baron, nothing bad was said." Erica said to her brother, sounding a little irritated. Erica is the only one that would usually stand up against her brother list times because she's the bold one among his siblings.

Edna felt a little down with the way things were going, because of her the family is having a misunderstanding again.

She raised her head to look at everyone and as usual her eyes met with Aaron's. She and Aaron have never had a proper conversation since he got to the pack instead they just glance at each other.

"No one will speak Ill of Edna in this house anymore." Alpha Baron said to them and angrily walked away from the dinning. Erica looked at Edna and rolled her eyes. Though Erica was okay with Edna staying now but at the same time her hurt hers were having a misunderstanding because of her that's why she was pissed.

Everyone slowly left the dining room, including Amber. Edna could not stand up because she felt guilty about what just happened at the dinning.

She started regretting why she was excited, it seemed like they were not happy about the news, maybe because they still see her as an adopted child and they are not ready to accept her as a real family member.

"Are you going to sulk there all night?" Edna heard a voice say to her, she turned back and surprisingly it was Aaron.

"Why do you care? You can go to bed." Edna said to him angrily with her hands folded across her chest.

Aaron handed a drink to her, Edna was surprised he had it because she's been trying to buy it but it's nowhere to be found in the pack.

"How did you get this?" Edna asked Aaron while staring at the drink.

"Let's just say I did my findings and I thought you would like this." Aaron said to Edna. Edna noticed that Aaron was not as bad as he was portrayed to be, she could not afford opening the juice especially now that she's not in a good mood, so she kept it at the other side of the dining room so it didn't tempt her.

"Why are you keeping it there?" Aaron asked Edna, looking surprised that she didn't drink it. He started wondering if it's because he's the one that bought it for her.

"This drink is my precious flavor. I cannot drink it now because of this upset." Edna explained to Aaron, Aaron found her so cute that he couldn't help but laugh. Edna was shocked to see him smile for the first time.

His others smiles used to be obviously fake so seeing him smile so brightly surprised her. "You can smile." Edna said to Aaron calmly, still intrigued by him.

Aaron went mute and went back to his poker face when he heard what she said. Aaron was not always like this; several things turned him to be like this.

"Why are you seated here all by yourself?" Aaron asked Edna. Edna sighed when she heard the question he asked her.

"I just needed to clear my head, it seems like the whole family is angry because of me." Edna explained to Aaron. Aaron started laughing when he heard what she said to him because he thought she was not being serious for thinking she's the cause of their misunderstanding.

"You have spent up to one year in the house and still you don't know that nothing goes smoothly here? Everyone has one thing or the other to say." Edna realized Aaron was telling the truth because it seemed like that's the same problem she was having. Hearing him say this made her realize that she might not be the cause at the end of the day.

"You mean the family has been like this for a while?" Edna asked to clarify if she was getting him right.

"Welcome to the family." He said to her and stood up to leave. Edna was not really surprised because she's been seeing everything but what she didn't know all along is that she is not the cause, that's just how they are in the family.

Edna stood up and picked her juice and she headed upstairs. Aaron's words really made her feel better. When Edna got to the room she closed the door and sat in the chair in front of the mirror.

She stared at her face through the mirror and she couldn't stop remembering what happened today ahd how it was a roller coaster of emotions.

Edna realized that the next big thing is her wedding.

"I wonder who the young man is." Edna muttered.
